Top marks

Visited here as a party of 4 for a family meal. We booked a table were shown to a table straight away and drinks taken. We all took a starter and mains and 2 took dessert while the other had coffee. The breaded scampi was delicious as was the potato skins and Belgian waffle. All courses looked tasy and clean plates. We were never waiting long fir any food. The steadf were very efficient and professional. The prices were reasonable. Been here a few times and dont recall ever having a bad meal. Would recommend this place for a meal or even lunch

Very pleasant and helpful staff!

Staff at the Abbotsford were all absolutely lovely. The ladies at reception on check in and out were really friendly and the staff member who helped me with my dietary requirements at breakfast was wonderful. Breakfast was also tasty and plentiful. The room was a twin, and was clean and comfortable enough for one night. I did have some noisy neighbours, and the shower was a little lacking in water pressure, but otherwise a good stop over in a convenient location.

Terrible food

Had food out this place many time having previously lived in the area and have family still living nearby.
Food was always great until tonight where our takeaway was nothing short of abysmal.
The Cajun chicken was horrendously spicy and actually has made my partner unwell.
Food overall very bland other than spice and not to mention, paid for 3 meals and only received 2.
Told to come back to collect it even though we explained we now live 20 mins away.
Told we would receive partial refund however will take several days with no offer of any our refund for the poor experience and terrible food.
Will not be back and will be recommending family and friends within the area to stay clear!

Not great

Usually a very nice meal, however, ordered a take away for collection, didn’t include my child’s meal, food was cold and all over the polystyrene container. Creamy Cajun chicken was far too spicy even though it’s usually lovely. Hoping this was a bad night for them otherwise won’t be back

Amazing food and brilliant staff

I was planning a reunion of my partner and her friend that she’s not seen in many years and I chose the abbotsford as a meeting point.
Soo glad I did, from the first call with Andrea (I think) to then amending the booking with the owner himself nothing was any trouble, we were welcomed with a smile, very well looked after by all the staff and to top it the food was outstanding.
Our table of 8 had everything from the soup and sandwich, the special burger, kids meals and deserts and all of it was delicious and well presented.
We visit the abbotsford most times that were in Dumbarton and it’s never been a let down.
Special thanks to Lesley for always making us feel welcome and having a blether
