Beautiful Place - Great Staff

British Bank Holiday Weather can be a little mixed
And so it was on Sunday as we headed to The Barnsdale
But what a lovely hotel, and what a beautiful area
As the sun shone we enjoyed drinks in the courtyard, and as clouds threatened we moved into The Rod Room for a light bite and live music (which was originally to be on the lawns)
Special mention of Rosie, serving in the restaurant, and to the great young bar-staff who were really busy but were engaging and fun as they prepared our cocktails.
As is often the case - its a special spot - but its the staff who make it.
We really enjoyed The Barnsdale

Over priced food for small portions.

Never eaten here before thought we would try somewhere new.
Sat in the Orangery , service was ok time wise although the girls need training in serving from the left and clear from the right & one of the girls tried to take my glass away that still had wine left in it , I hadn't finished.
So the food was ok when it arrived, but was certainly over priced for small portions.
I don't think you can justify a small piece of salmon , one spoon of pea puree and a couple of sprigs of broccoli for £25.
I had the Cod , also on the small side.
As for dessert one scoop of chocolate mouse in a bowl for £9, I think was a joke.
IF you are going to charge these prices I don't mind , if there was a lot more food on the plate!
In no rush to return back here sadly.

A fantastic event!

The Barnsdale was the perfect venue for our celebration event. Throughout the process of organising the evening, the Barnsdale team were fantastic. When it came to the night itself, the food was delicious and the team exceptional!
We would not hesitate to book the Barn space again for any of our future events! (Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust)

Rooms were comfortable, food was excellent and the staff were great. Shout out to Rosie who looked after us exceptionally well. Great location for Rutland Water Parkrun too.

Very pleasant stay.

We booked this 2 night hotel stay via a gifted Red Letter Day experience sometime ago and, having read some of the recent reviews, were more than a little concerned. Our experience matched very little of the poor reviews, which either means issues have been addressed or some people are unlucky. Let’s hope it’s the former.
We were welcomed at reception, with a complimentary glass of rose (most welcome) which we enjoyed in the sunshine in the courtyard garden. Our room was a decent size and beautifully clean. We ate in the restaurant on our first evening and the food was really enjoyable (quote from husband ‘best pork chop ever!’). The waiting staff, on the whole, were very attentive. The newly appointed bar manager was doing a great job.
Breakfast was excellent.
Unlike some, we have every intention of returning and would recommend.
