A quirky, characterful old inn with wonky floors and some low doorways. Well maintained, immaculately clean. Really friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Some live music and bbq in the courtyard, finished about 11. Shower wasn't the best - plenty of water but temperature a bit variable. Parking out back is very tight.

We decided to book what looked like a lovely hotel room in the charming old crown coaching inn, When we booked the stay at no point were we informed that there was going to be a music event for both evenings we was there. We was given a room which was quite literally behind the temporary stage set up, we had to walk through the stage to our room. One of the staff members was straight away concerned that we was going to complain but we had no choice but to stay there as we had traveled for 3 hours to get there and finding something at that time would have been impossible being the bank holiday weekend. The music was so loud right outside our door we couldn’t here the TV even though it was turned up to the max, we decided to take our dog out for a walk to try and calm him down and get away from the noise. We got back and the music was even louder, we had no choice but to stay up until after 11 and wait until the racket stopped. We was hoping for a more peaceful night on the second night but again a full on rave continued outside our door again. I understand that it was what happens at pubs and you could argue that we could have joined the party but some people go to a hotel to relax and rest. If at the point of the booking the staff could have informed us of the event taking place we could have then decided if we wanted to stay. Very selfish from the pub management not to inform us, take our money and show no consideration for their guest. Will never come here again.

Lovely stay

Friendly staff, great room and lovely food. My sister amd I had great fun! Local town is lovely and locals friendly also.

Food

Hello, I visited the restaurant at the Old Crown Hotel today and ordered fish and chips. Unfortunately, the fish smelled very bad and tasted horrible, so I could not eat it. I informed reception about the issue, but I was only asked if I wanted different food. I explained that I did not want another meal, but I was not offered a refund or any proper resolution.
I am very disappointed with both the food quality and the customer service.

Hello Jasmine,
its a pity you didn't make your dissatisfaction with your meal more clearly known at the time. The waiter asked you on two occasions if everything was ok and if you would like anything else. Your response was a simple 'no'. In fact you asked for a J20. When asked if you had finished you said yes, having eaten 2/3rds of your meal and remarked that it had been smelly, as you stood and wandered a little weirdly around the place. Its a pity you felt the need to create a new Tripadvisor account to spread bad news. Had you ever thought of creating a Tripadvsor account to leave good reviews in the past?
We served 11 fish and chips on the day of your visit, with no other complaints.
