Excellent value for money.
As a coeliac I have to be very careful when eating away from home.
Not only did they provide a delicious full English gluten free breakfast, they even gave me some gluten free biscuits for our room.
Other lovely touches are a mini fridge in the room with bottles of water and fresh milk, instead of the usual long life milk (which I hate).
A really good location with free parking on the road (permit provided)
I found the bed really comfortable.
We stopped on a day that was 35° so I was dreading a hot sweaty night. I was really pleased that they put a separate sheet under the duvet so we didn't have to use the duvet and an electric fan. I slept really well.
The really thoughtful gestures show how much effort they put into looking after their guests.

Fire saftey concerns at the Franklin Harrogate.
I had concerns about fire safety at this property. These included.
1. Fire extinguishers had not been inspected since 2021. It is a legal requirement this is done every year.
2. Not able to exit sleeping accommodation without the use of a key in the event of an emergency.
3. No fire door on sleeping accommodation.
4. Emergency Lighting on escape route appeared to be faulty displaying red LED.
5. No fire door to seperate kitchen from fire exit route.
6. Combustable items on fire exit route and candle burning within area.
These issues were raised with the owner who's immediately responded by telling me I could not have a refund, which I had not asked for.. Either way I chose to leave and booked a hotel near by.

I am sad to say I was expecting this review after you already left us a 1 on on booking.com which I was unable to respond to, requested a refund (which booking.com agreed to and have paid you) and reported us to North Yorkshire Fire Service. I am happy to be able to respond to this review because as I expected, your retelling of this incident is not quite accurate. You checked in at 4pm as standard and reported no issues whatsoever. You returned to the property after your evening at 9.30pm and were too inebriated to open the front door so my wife let you in. You then came downstairs at 10.30pm and requested to speak to me. I initially thanked you for highlighting the issue with the fire extinguishers, it was an oversight we have now corrected. However, all the other issues you raised are invalid and we are in line with all guidance from the fire service as we have already been inspected. You continued the conversation getting increasingly verbally aggressive to the point my wife had to come out and ask politely for the conversation to end as you were disturbing other guests and our children. I asked you what you wanted the outcome of the conversation to be and you decided to leave at 11.15pm. You made that choice. Just as you have made the repeated choice afterwards to go on a vendetta against a small business trying its best to provide a great service and keep in line with all guidelines and requirements. If you were really passionate about Fire Safety you would have used your knowledge to help us rather than try to extort a free room and try and damage our reputation and future business. I genuinely hope this mission you appear to be on gives you joy or a purpose of some kind but I hope you know that your behavior has direct consequences on us as human beings.

Lovely stay
Our 2nd stay at The Franklin was for 3 nights. Lovely hosts, fantastic breakfasts and free parking. Great location to the town. A lovely stay.

Super family run hotel in Harrogate
We had a lovely stay at The Franklin, superbly looked after by Dan and Felicity. Great location a short walk from the shops and bars in central Harrogate. This is a family business and Dan and Felicity were super helpful and friendly, and definitely go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome. The breakfasts are very good. The hotel is on a quiet tree lined street. Parking is on street and is free with a windscreen sticker supplied by our hosts. We would definitley book again.
