Fantastic stay, We really enjoyed everything about our stay. We shall return to this hotel again that's for sure.

Henlows jewel in the crown.
I've been a member for 3 months. I now go almost every day. It's relaxing. I mainly go to swim. But yesterday (Saturday), I ventured into the restaurant for breakfast, which was amazing and unbelievable value. I've let the cat out of the bag now, guess I'll have problems getting that superb breakfast now. You should definitely put Champneys Henlow on your bucket list. It's a great place.

No empathy when I needed it most
I visited Champneys Henlow at an incredibly difficult and emotional time. The previous day, I had watched my dad die, and I desperately needed an emergency spa day simply to have somewhere quiet to decompress and collect myself.
I had tried to navigate the website beforehand, but found it cumbersome, confusing and virtually impossible to use, so I decided to drive over in person to see whether there was any availability.
Unfortunately, my experience at reception was appalling. I was met by what can only be described as extremely unhelpful and rude staff. I was ignored and passed over, and eventually told that there was no day-spa availability — but that I should check online, as there might be availability. This made absolutely no sense given that I was standing at the reception desk asking the very same question.
I sat in reception for around ten minutes trying to navigate the website myself. Given the circumstances, I then asked one final time whether there was any possibility of being squeezed in. The response was essentially a po-faced “we told you, we’re fully booked”, delivered with absolutely no warmth, empathy or attempt to help.
I completely understand that a spa can be fully booked. That was never the issue. What was so upsetting was the extraordinary lack of basic kindness and customer service when someone was clearly going through an exceptionally difficult moment.
It felt like something out of Little Britain — and sadly, not in a funny way.
I never got beyond the reception area, so I can’t comment on the facilities or the spa itself. But first impressions matter, and if the attitude at the front door is any indication of the experience inside, I certainly won’t be finding out.
At a time when I needed a little humanity, Champneys Henlow offered none.

Another fabulous visit x
Our stay at Champneys was exceptional, the place itself its just lovely, clean, weel cared for and peaceful, food as ever was very good. But the bit for my mother, my sister and me is that the staff are so incredible! On arrival Alice greeted us with Andrew and Thomas, making us feel so welcome and assisting with our specific needs, mum on crutches and my sister (mentally challenged, not really, thats just me having a laugh! She will strangle me if she comes across this review), but we did need extra support with several practical matters. Restaurant staff so kind in accommodating my allergies, Elisabeth, Eliza, Thomas again, Shereen, Kamila, and Jackie, all so great. I thunk it was Elissa who remembered from previous meals i also cannot eat garlic, and remindsd me what had garlic in it!!
In the spa itself I had two fantastic treatments thanks to Abida and Erin. Juliet and Izzy in the cafe were also lovely to chat to and polite enough to laugh at my jokes. Many staff recalled us from previous visits, including Wendy who did our room refresh and her trainee Samantha. Everyone was amazing, I am sorry if I forgotten anyone's names, but someone is extremely good at handpicking Champneys staff.

Friendliness of the staff
Champneys Henlow is always a pleasure to visit, largely thanks to the incredibly friendly and approachable staff. A special mention to Melissa in Fitness Reception, who is always so welcoming and helpful, and to Kim, one of the fitness instructors. Kim is particularly fantastic in the Senior Strength class — she is encouraging and supportive without ever being patronising, which makes such a difference. It’s lovely to feel so comfortable and well looked after. Thank you to the team!
