All round perfect
My husband and I have just returned from Byfords after a long weekend there for his birthday. I could not fault it. We stayed in Room 11 on the ground floor which was really nice. The staff were always so obliging and friendly and I would go as far as saying it was a perfect place to stay. We are both vegetarians but we're well catered for. We will definitely be returning.

Oh those pigeons
We stayed over the weekend in room 8. The room was lovely and comfortable. Unfortunately a huge amount of pigeons next to the room in the guttering and on the roof kept us awake. It was unsettling to have so many pigeons so close to you when you’re in the bedroom. I did complain and they didn’t charge us for dinner we had on the first night. It was a kind gesture but we would have preferred to of paid for the dinner and had 2 nights of undisturbed sleep. Someone years ago left a review on here mentioning the pigeons and still nothing has been done. Apparently it only affects room 8 and 9 but if you know that…...they did offer to move us to an apartment for the 2nd night but it is only 1 bedroom and the sofa wasn’t big enough for our adult daughter to sleep on. The bed in the room is very soft which I liked but it’s not for everyone. The water in the hot tap in the bathroom is boiling hot. I burnt my hand twice… please be careful. No power in the shower. It goes from very little pressure to a drip. The shower head needs a good clean to get rid of the limescale. The air con units are very good and kept our room cool. No instant coffee in the room. They provide a coffee machine, a choice of pods, various T Bags and fresh milk in the fridge. Our daughter stayed in room 10 by the car park. She slept very well, mainly as you can not park in the car park it’s very quite. It’s a large car park which is only available to disabled guests. You need to carry bags to and from Budgens car park and leave your car there overnight so the car park they have is completely empty. It made no sense to us.

Unfortunately, it is a particularly tricky problem to resolve, but our team and management are doing what they can to address it. We are also sorry that the alternative accommodation offered did not work for your family, and we understand why this was disappointing.

This is probably one of the best b and bs we have ever stayed in. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and all the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. The food in the restaurant was superb - excellent choices well presented. The history of the building was so interesting- well done to the owners for creating a beautiful haven in Holt. I’m sure we will return.
