Best hotel we've been to great rooms great food great entertainment great staff. I couldn't fault it.

Won’t be returning to this hotel.

Nice room double shower, nice bathroom & very clean. We had room 409 not a great view. We didn’t rate the food in general very bland & tasteless. Breakfast was a great variety. Staff were very helpful. Only 1 lift in the hotel and as a lot of pensioners were staying here we waiting ages to get to our rooms. We agreed we wouldn’t stay there again.

Expect seagulls in your room and no breakfast

Location is lovely, opposite the beach. This is an OLD hotel, way past it's prime but that was part of the initial appeal. It is grand looking but very worn and that's ok.
What isn't ok is walking into your room and being confronted by a mess, I didn't notice when I walked in but two pigeons were on top of the wardrobe and had made a awful mess (poo and feathers all over). We reported it to reception who could not find another room as they were fully booked. We went for a walk while they cleaned the room (most of it) and changed the sheets.
Sadly the beach is not clean enough to swim at but we went down to Woolacombe which was brilliant.
On our second day we were asked to change our assigned breakfast table into the other room (there are two rooms), there we sat for 30 minutes, no sign of any service. We went through and asked about being served and were told - quite rudely - 'I'll be there in a minute'. Ten minutes went by, still no service let alone breakfast. We had been told to be down for breakfast between 8am and 9am, it was now nearly 8.50.
We abandoned our (paid for) breakfast and went to the Spoons down the road, which was lovely with quick service.
The whole hotel is geared up towards coach parties for people over a certain age, this is fine, I understand they probably keep the place going.

Unless you book an Alfa coach holiday don't bother

Lovely location, right opposite the beach (which sadly is not clean enough to swim in). I was drawn in by what I expected to be faded charm, it would have been grand in it's day. Yes it's a bit tired and dated but I can forgive that.
What is unacceptable is the response when we checked in and found pigeons on top of the wardrobe! There was poo and feathers everywhere. We spoke to reception who didn't seem phased at all. They didn't have any other rooms so we agreed to go for a wander while they cleaned it (not very well).
The second day we were turfed out of our assigned breakfast table and waited for 40 minutes with no sign of any service. When we asked we got quite a huffy 'I'll be there in a minute'. We waited another 5 and abandoned our (paid for) breakfast and checked out. Thankfully there is a Spoons down the road to save the day.

Our stay at imperial hotel ilfracombe

Not the best hotel we have stayed in. The staff are very friendly though and helpful. Especially Naomi who was our waitress during our stay,she was lovely. Food wasn't great, went to wetherspoons a couple of times for breakfast. The view from the room was horrible. No fans or air con in the entertainment room. Nice fan in the bedroom though. Don't want to put people off by reading my review as some of the other guests quite liked it.
