Fantastic customer service!

I had to write a 5 star review solely for the outstanding customer service. I booked a room on booking.com and received a phone call from the hotel that the room was overbooked but that they would hold a room for us until we got there. The nice lady working concierge, who I regret cannot remember her name, stayed late for our arrival after normal check in hours. She held a room as promised, and a few days later called to let me know that the original booking had been refunded and asked how our stay was. The room was perfect for our needs (2 adults) and the breakfast was delicious and presented nicely. I recommend staying here whether passing through or visiting Invergordon area

Needs some TLC

A bit disappointing to be honest , the staff member on duty looked miserable throughout my stay , I felt like I was an inconvenience to her , no smile or friendly chat ,left to just get on with it at breakfast .A young couple who came down for breakfast and stood patiently at the entrance waiting to be seated as there was a big sign on entering the hotel saying " please wait here to be seated' no one thought to remove the sign Breakfast was lukewarm , tables were sticky , black pudding was hard as toast ...containers containing brown sauce and red sauce were sticky and appeared unhygeinic , door to the hotel was left open , making the breakfast room very cold .The room I had was adequate ,but stains noted on the bed protector , rusty waste paper bin and marks on the carpet ....this hotel I'm sure has had a good reputation for service and good food previously but certainly not now ...no atmosphere and no warmth .
With a little more TLC and more thought to detail ,this place could be a fantastic stay ....

Good few days away

We stayed at the Ship Inn 17th - 20th April. We informed the hotel after booking that we would be travelling from Glasgow after work and that we may arrive a little later than the 9pm check-in. They confirmed this was fine and called us when we were about 30 mins away to confirm we were still coming. We apologised as we had just got caught up in a bit of traffic but he was very understanding. I think the guy may have stayed back to wait on us arriving so if that's the case we can't be more thankful to him.
The room was spacious, no complaints there. The breakfast was great on all 3 days. The first and last day we were asked to place our order, and the Saturday was a buffet style breakfast. We assume this was purely down to the amount of guests booked - in order to avoid wastage, which was no bother to us. One thing I'd say is that when it was buffet style I felt much more filled. I imagine the chefs might have allowed another helping if we'd asked anyway as they were both very friendly but we didn't ask. Even though we arrived close to the breakfast end time, which was probably annoying for them, they were always courteous and friendly. The man specifically was very friendly and nice to chat to.
The milk sachets in room weren't the freshest. It wasn't an issue, but you could tell they were close to turning based on how long it took to mix. Street parking was absolutely fine and we were able to park within line of sight of the room window. Invergordon seems to be a pretty quiet place anyway to be honest.
Our only gripe, and the hotel is probably aware of this because we had to call for help. We came home on the Saturday night to find the door to our section of the hotel was locked (the last few days the latch was on the lock so the door can always be opened) We can only assume the door was taken off the lock by new guests. This caused us quite a bit of alarm as the reception area was locked with no-one nearby. We thought we may have to sleep in the car or drive back to Glasgow without our luggage. We were worried that, because it was Easter Sunday, we wouldn't get hold of anyone. Thankfully, a lady answered the call and was able to instruct us on how to gain entry.
On the door there is a black square with a keycard Logo, what we didn't know prior to the call is that you can hold your hand on it for 5 seconds and a keypad will appear. The passcode for this was on our key, which we had to hand. The lad checking us in probably forgot to tell us this, or as the lady on the phone said the door is never usually locked so it slipped his mind to mention it.
The shared bathroom was not an issue for me, my partner was a little more apprehensive. The door had a sign advising only our room was to use the shower room but we suspect other guests had been in there using it too - not the hotels fault and what we expected before arrival anyway.

The gateway to Loch Ness

A lovely little pub with a hospitable staff. A warm welcome with a great selection of beers and ciders. Invergordon is a sleepy community with a small selection of shops. We enjoyed exploring the community m, visiting the Scottish shops.
Our grandchildren enjoyed looking for the morales and visiting the museum.

Stayed 3 nights. Wish I hadn’t. On arrival I had to ask for clean bedding as mine was threadbare, holey and worst of all full of stains. I was brought another duvet cover which was worse than the first, grey instead of white and full of even more stains than the first The pillowcases were as bad and none of them matched. Some candle wick like my granny used to have and just as old. Eventually the lady found me a clean duvet cover but the bedding all smelled sweaty and stale smoke. Carpet was filthy, the window frame peeling and full of mildew. I moved the chair to reach the socket and one of it legs fell off. One bathroom between 3 double Rooms so had to wait ages to use the loo in the morning, hair in sink, layer of grime on ledges, one grubby bath mat all week between everyone. One tiny mirror in bedroom and very high up so ok if you’re 6 foot.
Breakfast was a buffet but mostly gone cold when we got there. There was a big tub of margarine for everyone to share which was full of crumbs and other debris. Same with the jam and marmalade.
Definitely not worth the money they charge when you can stay in a travel lodge for £29 a night with crisp white sheets and an ensuite.
