Attic room was lovely and cosy!

We stayed for one night, we got an attic room and it was lovely! Really cosy, a velux window kept it cool, and yes the beams are a bit low but the bed was really comfy. We were lucky to get a parking space outside. Ideal location for all Ambleside has to offer! Would definitely stay again

Charming stay

We had a very impromptu stay for one night last week. Called in hoping they had a vacancy, the friendly owner showed us two rooms that were available.
We chose a cosy room that was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy, complimentary tea, coffee and home made gingerbread in the room and there was an honesty box downstairs for water and soft drinks.
The cafe next door is owned by the same people and we had a lovely breakfast with 10% discount.
This is a wee gem of a place and look forward to returning soon.

The perfect ‘Apple pie’

It has been a couple of years since our last stay, it was great to return and see standards just as good as our previous stays.
There are now additional car parking spaces made available a short walk away, which is very welcome.
Our room was at the front, it’s cosy and has everything you would need. Very comfortable bed, nice decor, small but ample storage spaces and carefully designed bathroom to maximise space.
They have an honesty facility in the foyer and a small fridge for guests to use. Whilst absolutely not any fault of the staff, I was very disappointed to see that a can of G&T had gone astray……it was clearly labelled with our room number. Some people have no shame.
We really enjoyed our stay, great location and comfortable room.
Highly recommended.

Nice place right in the heart of Ambleside

We got a late deal on the loft room at The Apple Pie.
The location is ideal for exploring Ambleside and our room overlooked the famous bridge house.
Our room was lovely with a comfy bed, smart TV and a fridge. The bathroom had a good shower (albeit over a bath) and great views from the windows.
We had a lovely weekend here and would recommend this venue.

Very highly recommended. Overall, an excellent B&B set-up in the centre of Ambleside with a café and its own bakery.

Very highly recommended. Overall, an excellent B&B set-up in the centre of Ambleside with a café and its own bakery. It has a slightly quirky off-beat feel but it is high quality. All the staff were terrific. BUT beware of the being allocated an attic room. There are two low beams supporting the roof, a step and low archway from the room front door into the bedroom and a low ceiling as you exit the room to go down the stairs. Anyone over 4 foot six inches tall will be constantly banging their heads. It was amusing for the first few times, but slightly annoying thereafter. It was similar to Manuel in Fawlty Towers who spent his time walking around bent in half to avoid Basil Fawlty’s thumpings! However, we passed rooms on the lower floors and they looked fabulous.
Breakfast in the café next door was enormous with gluten avoiding options and great coffee! The bakery makes excellent bread and cakes, fresh every day. The bath buns are enormous and my non coeliac wife drooled!
As the gluten containing products and gluten free products are baked in the same bakery, the café quite correctly informs those of the Coeliac persuasion that while the gluten free products are made with non gluten ingredients, the bakery cannot guarantee that there is no cross contamination with gluten containing products. I had gluten free bread for breakfast and sampled the café’s gluten free falafel wrap and apple pie, all of which were excellent and I had no digestive problems. Those who are very sensitive with the Coeliac allergy might feel the need to avoid these gluten avoiding products.
Parking in front of the B&B is limited and difficult to access but there is plenty of designated off-street parking a couple of minutes away.
