Great for families or walkers

Super hostel with campsite, we pitched our own tent but here there are tipis, land pods and bell tents to hire. Great woodland area to play and explore, great on wet days as the trees shelter most of the rain. Good hostel facilities, bar / cafe. Two pubs and a cafe within walking distance up the hill and a spar garage and pub down the hill and bus stop to all the lakes locations. Staff super friendly and helpful.

Spotless bell tent stay, great food, and very welcoming staff

We just spent two nights in a Bell Tent at YHA Windermere, and we really could not fault it.
The tent itself was spotless, comfortable, and well set up. After tackling Great Gable with my two boys, it was a genuinely relaxing place to return to and unwind.
The food was great. Breakfasts are freshly cooked to order and were lovely, setting us up properly for the day. One evening after our hike, the boys had a pizza each from the hostel and absolutely loved them.
The communal areas were clean and welcoming, with good Wi-Fi available throughout the social spaces. Having games like Pictionary out for guests to play was a brilliant touch for the kids in the evenings. The staff throughout were very friendly and made us feel welcome from the start.
A great, hassle-free stay and somewhere we would happily return to.

Disappointed with the room setup and storage. I booked a 6-person shared room but ended up in an 8-person room. They claim to provide lockers, but there are only 4 cupboards for 8 people. If you arrive late, you won't get any locker facilities at all

Nice view but Bad Facility

Nice view , but unfortunately very poor small kitchen/toilet facility for camping/ tipis and bell tent area. The toilets are right next to kitchen door in same building. I could literally hear someone taking sh*t while i was having my breakfast.

Fabulous LandPod as a base for a car-free holiday

I stayed in a LandPod with my 10 year old son. We had the best car-free holiday. The LandPod was amazing. Really comfy beds, plenty of space, loads of storage, very handy USB chargers for my phone. It was really quiet at night and an amazing view over the lake. The bathrooms were clean, shared kitchen well stocked and the staff were really welcoming and helpful. The meals were simple but exactly what we wanted. Getting a taxi to the hostel was no issue and cost between £8-£9 from Windermere. The walk down the road was no problem and the bus to Windermere/Ambleside is every 20 mins. We will definitely be back

Thank you Elizabeth, we are so pleased you had a pleasant stay in our landpod. You really can't beat our location but it is great that you found the site clean, the staff friendly and managed to get about car free for all your explorations. We definitely hope to see you again!
