Great place to stay
Excellent stop over at the Black Bull after a week travelling around Scotland.
Really nice room, excellent friendly staff and some really good food in the evening. Breakfast was also really good although booking a time to have it meant you were committed to actually getting out of the comfy bed!

Great stay and helpful staff
We had a lovely stay arranged last minute as we travelled. As we arrived late, we were pleased that the staff went out of their way to provide dinner after the kitchen had closed. We stayed in a lovely new room that had just been completed as part of an extension. Breakfast and dinner on the second night in the restaurant were superb. All the staff were so helpful.

Lovely stay at the Black Bull in Lauder
We were attending a wedding nearby so booked 1 night in the Black Bull in Lauder. We wanted an early check in and they were so accommodating! We were able to access our room at 11am to change into our wedding clothes. The staff were lovely, so welcoming and helpful. We needed a taxi to tack us to the wedding venue and home and they gave us a fabulous reference, Jocks taxi’s. A local business and a real find. Our deluxe room was everything we could have wished for, fabulous en-suite, and our request for a n early breakfast next day was no problem. The hotel is very tastefully decorated with modern and quirky touches. We would definitely stay there again!

Stylishly decorated old country town hotel.
A traditional old hotel that has been very stylishly decorated to maintain its character whilst being comfortable. Rooms are comfortable and the food surprisingly good. Friendly service coupled with fair prices ( food better value than the rooms) make this a good stopover.

Amazing
We booked this lovely place for a romantic getaway and had never been to Lauder before. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such friendly and welcoming vibes. We were shown to our room (Rm3), which we would be staying in for three nights, and were immediately struck by how spacious and comfortable it was. The pièce de résistance was the steel bed, designed to look like it was made from belts, which was so comfy to sleep in.
The Black Bull is perfectly located for relaxation, nestled in a quiet little town. If you’re not worried about driving, you can easily explore other places. We opted to use a local taxi company, and our driver, Edith, was so funny and easy to chat with. She drove us to the train station for a day trip to Edinburgh and arranged to text us when we left to pick us up again. Mandy and Alan, the lovely owners of the Black Bull, are such a wonderful couple and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. All the staff we met were so helpful, friendly and always ready to lend a hand. We decided to eat at the hotel for our three-night stay and explored the menu, trying both the mains and desserts. Overall, this was a fantastic find by my husband, who booked and arranged everything directly with the hotel. They even gave us breakfast with our room. We’re definitely planning to return and would love to stay in room 3 again. I cannot thank you enough for your hospitality and making this getaway so relaxing.
