For me it was most definitely the staff. Cheryl & Robert.
I arrived and was greeted by them both. As a stranger to the area they settled me into the hotel, which is centrally located in the town. When asking for local taxi numbers Cheryl asked where I was going, once told she offered to take me to my goddaughter wedding venue, above a beyond but greatly appreciate.
I dined in the hotel on my first night and the busy bar / lounge meal & atmosphere was fantastic with Robert as our host. Sea bass cooked to perfection. Robert has traveled far and wild and I was able to share my travel stories with him, what a gent.
The hotel has old world charm and many stories to tell. A fantastic stay and one I would happily do again.

Loved everything about the place, great specced rooms at fair prices and the steak I had for dinner there was top notch.
Only minor downside was that the gentleman who booked me in said it was room only, whereas when I booked through hotels.com it said free breakfast. I should have queried it with him, but I let it slide as everything else was perfect. Maybe the owner needs to check the advertisement on hotels.com?
Otherwise, couldn't recommend enough. I would happily stay again on my next visit.

The room was very spacious and clean. There was some noise from the street and the room above ours.
Car parking was useful to have. Breakfast was okay but expensive on top of the room cost.

The staff are amazingly helpful.
We were surprised that there's no air-conditioning But, the room was airy and comfortable. In discussions with our Scottish relatives we were advised that air-conditioning conditioning was rare in Scotland

Lovely family friendly hotel. Great food

We had a lovely one night stay here on our way travelling south. The hotel looks dated on the outside but inside the rooms have been done up lovely bathroom nice shower very happy with the bed and tea & coffee in the room. We had a meal in the bar we had great service from the gentleman in there and the food came out by a good time and was all really tasty. Thanks for a lovely stay if we are in the area again I would book this hotel. Defo reccomend for families and they had a kids menu.
