Fine for what is, convenient for the park

We only stayed here because of the merlin pass offer. We had a standard room with bunk beds (there wasn't an option for just a room with a double bed and no bunk beds) and tbh the room was quite nice. Comfy bed, we both slept well. Our view gave us a partial view of the zoo/safari park, and see the giraffes in the morning was a treat. We weren't a big fan of the shower, clearly meant to be kid friendly. No main light on the ceiling (natural light was fine).
We booked the pool for 6 but was told that it was adult only at 7, so we given the option of going then instead which was great appreciated. Could get a few lengths in in peace. The splash pool was closed (but know about that and didn't care) and the gym is no longer in existence! It was £3 per person which was fine.
Bar was ok, the wine wasn't particularly strong, but it was inoffensive. Bf enjoyed the 'vampire' beer. Looking out over the safari park made it worth it for the hotel priced wine! We are dinner at 8:45 in the main restaurant, we just walked up. Kitchen closes at 9pm so we were last orders (I'll write a review for that separately). Staff are very friendly.
Check in and out was fine and easy. As was booking for breakfast, I booked a out two days in advance and there were loads of slots available. Breakfast options weren't that great (bf calls it 'standard'), especially if you wanted healthier options (I enjoyed the watermelon and pineapple thought) but for non-fussy people it's fine! Coffee is not particularly nice, but drinkable.
Overall it was better than expected, it's clean and well kept.

Splash pool - Closed.
Main Swimming pool - Closed.
Evening Entertainment - None.
The staff took a stance of "It's not my fault". Really took the shine off the whole stay.

The hotel was family-friendly, but the room wasn't as clean as expected, with noticeable dust. We paid a lot for a family king room, only to be given a view of a roof overlooking the main car park. Unfortunately, this also meant we could hear music from outside reception until almost 9pm every evening.
The bar was extremely expensive – £20 for just four soft drinks. The pillows were very hard, and noisy neighbours woke us at 4am, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep.
Overall, while the hotel was suitable for families, I don't feel it offered good value for the price. If we visited again, we'd choose to stay at an off-site hotel instead.

The bedroom had excellent air con and was quiet. Free access to a small part of the zoo was a nice surprise. The restaurant staff were great. The only downside was the food, which was very expensive given the mediocre quality.

We had a great stay, the rooms were lovely and aircon worked well. View over the Savanha was stunning.
