Hidden gem in a good location
Beautiful hotel in a great location that comprises bright and well-equipped rooms, aircon (stayed there during the heatwave in London), nice rooftop and really friendly staff. It seems that it’s a new business as I have been staying quite frequently in the area and didn’t came across it before. It gave me hidden-gem vibes - would be back and strongly recommend it.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating, enjoyed dinner at the chophouse. The room itself was pretty basic (no side tables near bed, no mini fridge etc) The mattress had a tendency to slide away from the headboard without much movement. The room was very clean and it was nice to have access to a hot tub. Wouldn't personally describe it as a boutique hotel and wouldn't say it was well worth the money but no major complaints

A great little find. Nice lobby for hot desking, friendly staff, nice room, comfortable bed. Did not eat there or use the bar. Lively local area :-)

Very nice hotel close to Whitechapel Underground and Elizabeth Line. I liked the style. You order your breakfast and then it is freshly prepared and served but it would be nice if there was more buffet too.

Decent, but never again
Positives first:
1) Location. In a very central area in Whitechapel. Cars can easily pick up/drop off out front, there's loads of lovely restaurants in the area as well as a Tesco just 4 minutes on foot.
2) Staff. Their staff is (for the most part) very friendly and try their best to assist you whichever way they can.
3) Sound-proofing inside of the hotel. The courtyard facing rooms especially on the second floor were great! We did not get any noise pollution from outside or from the other rooms.
4) The matress. If you like a firm matress this is a perfect one for you. We both very much enjoyed the feel of the matress itself.
5) The AC. We really enjoyed the strenght and silence of the air conditioner that worked perfectly in our room and was easy to handle. Especially during this extreme heatwave this was very important to us.
Negatives:
1) That bathroom. No privacy because there's a half a milimeter slit on all the sides of the doors, the seperation from bathroom to bedroom was a thin glass seperator. Every single time you shower the entire bathroom floor would flood!
2) The breakfast. The "continental breakfast" does not have margarine, butter, cheese, ham... what have you. Instead it offers a small selection of breads, jams, nutella, fruit and tiny pastries (no croissaints though) as well as filter coffee and hot water. You get to pick one hot breakfast item that is prepared for you and while my partner was very happy with the "regular" english breakfast option I did not find a single dish I actually liked. The Chia Pudding and Pancakes were too sweet because they were either overly sugared or drowned in jam/syrup.
3) Mirrors. There were 3 mirrors in our room. Not a single one was lit properly to do makeup on.
4) Sound-proofing from outside of the hotel. Our last night (we extended due to an emergency and got to stay in a different room, first floor and facing the street) we were able to follow a conversation that was being had on the street. The noises from the cars/people outside were not acceptable for a hotel of this type. Had we been in that room from the start we would have been forced to move rooms or hotels. My partner at first thought the window was open because of the amount of noise!
5) House-Keeping. Except for on day 2 house keeping did a great job for what I'm assuming is their protocol. On day 2 they forgot to clean the toilet, which would not have been such a problem had the hotel supplied the room with a toilet brush. I understand this is a hygienic concern in some of these places but having poop stains on the porcelain is not a pleasant experience even when you are the one who put them there. My main confusion at house keeping was... why are the sheets not changed? In every other hotel I have been in either the sheets were just changed every single day or it was communicated at the start when and how often they would be changed. During our five night stay in our first room our pillows and blanket were never once changed. The bedsheet was changed once when we stripped it ourselves before she came to clean the room. Also why does the housekeeper not have a cart? She had to carry those towels across the entire hall. I don't understand this.
6) The "free selection of hot drinks". This is pre-portioned instant product in paper cups. One kind of tea. Very disappointed.
7) The beds. Especially the ones that were enclosed on 3 sides were too short for my partner, who is only 180cm (5'9"), as he could not stretch out properly during the entire night we stayed in that room.
8) No fridge. I know they say it's a positive that they don't have an expensive mini bar, but a fridge would be nice. Even just to store a bottle of water?

Regarding breakfast, our breakfast is intentionally designed as an à la carte experience rather than a traditional buffet. For just £15 per person, guests enjoy unlimited tea, coffee, pastries, breads, fresh fruit and preserves, together with a freshly prepared hot breakfast of their choice. We believe this represents excellent value in central London, particularly when compared with many hotels where breakfast is considerably more expensive.
We hope that, should you visit London again, you'll have the opportunity to experience Mr White's English Chophouse by Marco Pierre White. Widely recognised as one of East London's premier dining destinations, it forms an integral part of the New Road Hotel experience and is enjoyed by both our hotel guests and local residents alike.
With regard to housekeeping, daily room servicing is provided throughout every stay. Our linen replacement programme follows recognised hospitality standards and our environmental commitments, with bed linen changed regularly during longer stays. This is standard practice across the industry. However, should any guest prefer fresh linen every day, we are always happy to accommodate this request—simply let our Reception team know.
Mini fridges are also available upon request. If this option was not mentioned during your stay, we sincerely apologise. We would have been delighted to provide one had we known it was required.
Whilst our complimentary refreshment station offers unlimited tea and coffee throughout the day, guests looking for freshly ground barista coffee are welcome to visit our lounge&bar, where premium coffee is available at a very reasonable price.

We are particularly proud of our bedrooms, which have become one of New Road Hotel's defining features. From our thoughtfully designed Warehouse Rooms to our private Terrace Rooms and signature Hot Tub Suites, we offer a range of room categories to suit different preferences and budgets, each delivering the character and individuality for which New Road Hotel is known.
We also noticed your helpful tip recommending that future guests bring pool slippers. Our bathrooms have been thoughtfully designed to maximise the available space while complementing the building's industrial heritage. They feature contemporary walk-in wet room showers and heated mirrors, ensuring guests always have a clear mirror after showering. As with any modern wet room, some water may remain on the bathroom floor immediately after use, and we recommend taking reasonable care. Should guests require additional bath mats or towels, our team is always happy to provide them.
