This privately owned hotel rests in the heart of the picturesque Regency market town of Lymington, perfect for exploring the delights of the New Forest.

Enjoyable stay
We were looking for somewhere not to far from home, dog friendly, where we could relax for a few days. We came across Stanwell House. Check in was great with friendly service.
When we arrived at the room, It was wonderfully decorated, good attention to detail. A dog bed, water bowl, treats and a dog towel was provided. Really well thought out for people travelling with dogs.
Very comfortable bed. Good sized tv.
Now I am going to be picky.
No toilet roll holder on wall.
Shower head very low
A toiletry holder in shower, which I presume was once in use. Now not. Left on wall with sharp threads sticking up.
Grout around bottom of shower tiles needs deep cleaning.
Voile curtains for privacy, these were all coming off the hooks. Simple to re hook back on.
None of this spoiled our stay. However the hotel is not a cheap one. So perhaps just a few checks would be good.
Atmosphere in restaurant was good. Good lighting, back ground music, again lovely furnishings and decoration. However light bulbs out everywhere.
We ate breakfast both mornings. Good selection of continental and cooked options to order.
We had dinner on one evening.
Nice menu, specials board offered.
Our reservation was 7.30. The waitress came to take the order.
Then came back again saying that one option we had ordered was now not available. Which was a shame. However something else was chosen.
Both meals were good.
However the dessert was the winner.
What was a really lovely touch was a welcome cocktail for both of us.
Really great idea. Sets a tone.
We had a few more in the Salt bar to.
We would definately stay here again.
With a few tweeks it could be perfect.
Oh and a wonderful garden. This time we could not enjoy it as the September weather had put pay to that. I still had a good look around though.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere!
Having visited Stanwells countless times, it remains one of Lymington’s shining jewels. I visited with my family last night, and enjoyed the duck breast; it was absolutely delicious. The staff are always incredible and the atmosphere in the restaurant is impeccable. The sharing boards are always a crowd pleaser (particularly the seafood one). The cocktails are also excellent and unique. I would absolutely recommend Stanwells!

A beating little gem of a hotel Lymington
As always an amazing short stay, the location is ideal the staff friendly and attentive , with a casual laid back atmosphere , the food is of high standards as always,

Fantastic!
We loved this restaurant so much that we ate there twice in one week!
Alex was an excellent waiter, the hostess was friendly and professional and the food was absolutely delicious.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with an open, friendly ambience and you will struggle to find more charming spaces to eat than the garden and the conservatory.
Highly recommend!

Lovely stay! Very friendly and helpful staff with lovely gardens and breakfast room.. Fab atmosphere! The room was clean and well presented although the toiletry dispensers kept jamming. Fans were provided but were very noisy… it was during the heatwave. Would definitely stay again as the location was great and the hotel car park was close and free!
