Nice stay at the Brackenrigg Inn

Nice stay at the Brackenrigg Inn, nicely decorated rooms and lovely views. Good choice at breakfast.
Marketed as part of Another Place but is more like a sister hotel given the distance and relative service levels. We were given inconsistent messages about the £40 surcharge for using the pool, which we were subsequently told didn’t apply on the last night of a four night stay.

Great stay

Amazing stay at Another Place. We've just got home from Another Place and honestly were already planning our next visit. its just lovely, we booked as a family of 5 and doggie and found it perfect for everyone. One of the children has allergies and the hotel were great to accommodate and check items and it was just relaxing knowing that extra care had been taken. The reception staff, breakfast staff, The living Room and pool staff and Glasshouse all amazing. We had lunch at the Brackenrigg Inn the team were great, helping with advice and tips for the local walks etc. The kids attended the kids club and had so much fun , lots of activities and things for them to do, the team were great, even with my neurodiverse children. Big shout out to Richie in the Sheep Shed, we had booked 3 activities archery, paddleboarding and rafted canoe and he was our instructor for each. He was very knowledgeable and put us all at ease, my youngest has additional needs and he was very responsive to this and we really appreciate how he dealt with him. Being centrally located , plenty of walks available, my husband did a few, and we all enjoyed Halin Fell. We will 100% return to AnotherPlace. We took full use of booking one of the Land Rovers and it was great to drive around and hike around the Lake District. Location is pretty perfect and lots of things to do in the grounds as well. You can take it easy as you like or pack as much in as you want. Something for everyone here. Also enojoyed the adults only times in the pool

Overall good stay, with some minor niggles

Izzy at check in was great - friendly and warm. We booked a ‘better’ room and this was spacious and well appointed for a one night stay. The bathroom was functionally well laid out and the shower had good pressure. The bed was comfortable with good quality pillows. We had dinner at the hotel which we enjoyed. Breakfast service was good, though food quality could be improved - for example my croissant was a little dry, and the yoghurt was not topped up, atleast while we were there. I ordered a latte which was barista level and this I appreciated. Strangely it’s the only hotel I’ve stayed in where slippers were not available, strange given there is a spa onsite and it is an outdoorsy hotel - not very sanitary. Overall though we enjoyed our stay and the staff were lovely throughout. We would stay again if in the area.

We will be back!!!

What a beautiful hotel!!! We stayed there for 3 nights with our dog. Its very dog friendly place and staff made such a fuss around him. Hotel is surrounded with an amazing landscape and even though it’s August and school holidays- you can find a place if you want to escape kids! Very nice to have adults only times for swimming pool as well.
Rooms are super clean with fluffy towels and very nice bath products!
We had a lovely time and felt recharged after this trip! We will be back!

Great spot for families avoid if you’re adult only .

This is an absolutely gorgeous spot right on the lake . If you want a family oriented stay then this looks very well set up for that . Loads of kids facilities . Dry robes provided. Great water sports on offer and easy access to the lake .
We booked after speaking with reservations team as we wanted a large room with a Superking bed . Happy to pay the rate . We arrived to a tiny cramped very small double . Overbearingly hot with a Dyson fan .
Bathroom that was also tiny and poorly equipped . We immediately returned to reception but they couldn’t resolve as hotel was full . Fair enough and we left it with them . I e mailed the general manager to explain our disappointment. Jamie A , who did not and has still not replied despite a follow up . However reception got in touch and said they would move us for our second night and gave us 25% off our room rate for the first night . The second room was lovely, air conditioned , great bathroom and a seating area . Just what we booked .
I booked a massage but it was cancelled due to staff shortage . A second disappointment .
The food is average and the communal areas are good but overcrowded at times . The hotel is full but the glass house is only open through the weekend . No idea why you would restrict the choice with a full hotel .
The pool is small and overcrowded but adult times before 9am or after 6pm are quieter.
The young hospitality team serving in bars and front desk are great with friendly service .
Swimming in the lake is fab .
If you want a top spot in the lakes that reflects this price bracket try Gilpin it knocks spots off Another place on all fronts .
