Welcoming and friendly staff

Extremely friendly staff, especially Nathan ( a fellow Lancastrian). Lots of funny chats !!! He went out of his way to make sure we were looked after properly. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and generous portions.
It is clearly a very popular pub/ hotel and with good reason.
Clean and comfy rooms.
Overall great value !! We would definitely return, great base for exploring this part of the Lakes.

Friendly staff

The staff here were lovely and friendly. Although the room had been renovated at some time in the past it did feel a bit down at heel. Not too sure about the cleanliness either I’m sorry to say. Decent value at today’s rates and you probably get what you pay for.

Mayo

We ordered our meal which came no problem the waitress us if we wanted any sauces to which i said mayo please, she brought some mayo and upon getting the bill we was charged £1.60 for the mayo. At no point did she say there is a charge for this i have tried contacting them but no reply has been received. If charges for a pot of mayo are to be done then they need to inform customers. WONT BE GOING ANYMORE.

Thanks for the review. I’ve had a check on our till and our dips are 40p for eat in and 60p for takeaway, I can’t see how you were charged £1.60 unless you ordered more than one. We charge a small price for extra sauces as this is a rising cost to us and I can assure you a lot of other places locally do the same. Can I ask how you have tried to contact us because our phone and email is manned daily. If you would like to contact us then please give us a call we would be happy to speak with you.

Great pub/hotel - clean comfortable rooms with great breakfast

A very nice place to rest your head for the night.
Very clean en suite Room
Very Comfortable bed
Very warm and welcoming staff
Excellent Breakfast
Thoroughly recommend this as a good stop
Over - especially if you are starting the coast to coast walk

Great food and service

Great food and service, ate here twice during our stay, and enjoyed the quiz night, bit rough round the edges in places but did not spoil our visit, and would definitely return on our next trip to St Bees
