Worth the money
After reading some of the reviews, my partner and I were worried about our three day stop. We shouldn't have. Our room was clean and neat, with our own bathroom. Not perfect, of course, but this was only £40 a night for a small double. There is no useable outdoor pool or hot tub, as shown in older photos. However, there is an indoor pool and fantastic sauna and steam room.... I've never had them in a hotel at that price. There was plenty of tea and coffees in the room and a hairdryer, too. No breakfast, but a short walk away is Applebys pub. They do an amazing breakfast starting at 7:30 am. There is free parking at the hotel for 7 cars, but parking is available on the street also. This was a fantastic base for us and walkable to the marina.

Disgusting, dirty, dated
Absolutely disgusting hotel. The "suite" we had was a basic room. Smelt of mould and stale cannabis. Broken chest of drawers, everything has dirty cup marks on, the nets and curtains were mouldy. Looking out the window was a pile of rubbish and broken doors. Wires hung off the towel heater. No heating in the room and the walls had lots if marks and holes on them. The bed was also uncomfortable. Did not use the pool or facilities as the room was so dirty and run down we didn't want to risk it. The hotel did not seem like a safe place to be and there was never any staff around to speak to.

Parking included was great, reception was great, we didn't use the pool or other areas, room was generally clean but could of done with a sweep/ hoover & bedding didn't seem fresh, the quilt inside the cover was grubby

What a Dump!!
Unfortunately it was awful.
The place uses photos from around 10 years ago and it doesnt look anything like it. The outdoor pool was green slime, obviously not used for quite some months. What was one a lawn was now a foot long grass full of rubbish. Outside hot tub closed down and filthy. Indoor pool was cold, waste deep, and filthy wirh broken and missing tiles.
There was no shower facility, no lockers, nowhere to put clothes. The changing area was a thin wood panelled area, for male or female.
No facilities, no food, no drinks( other than tap water).
No staff from 9pm to 8.30am.
We visited mid May and the place was being decorated. No signs to indicate what could be wet. On returning from a night out and negotiating the small tight stairwell to room 4 my wife found out the hard way with wet paint all over her jeans.
No staff on sight when we left at 8.45am. Complained but they lied saying the place was full out wet paint signs. Hopefully someone who stayed on the 16th may will agree that no signs around.
The toilet was wedged in between the wall and shower. I,m slim and just fitted, with my shoulders touching each side. Anyone overweight wouldnt fit. Fittings broken, but apparently i was lucky and had one of the newly renovated rooms ! ( Room 4).

This hotel provides wonderful amenities The pool is warm and deep enough to swim, just not a full sized pool, and there is a jacuzzie sauna and steam room. In good weather there is a sun lounging garden also available. I loved the keyless door locking system where you just need to key in your personal number.
I found the staff to be professionally friendly and happy to help. There is no breakfast provided, but you can get vending services and free ice.
The sea front and restaurants and cafes are only a 10 minute walk away. Convenience store less than five minutes the other way with pubs etc nearby.
This hotel is undergoing light maintenance at a slow pace. I felt the price paid, and the available amenities more than compensated for other little niggles with perhaps some tired furnishings and paintwork.
This is my first choice to stay in Torquay on a budget.
