Whittlebury Hall is an excellent choice for a few nights of relaxation. We particularly enjoyed the indoor pool and steam room etc - very well maintained, clean and relaxing. More attention to detail required for bedroom cleaning. Menu excellent and plenty of choice. Staff in the lounge bar were excellent - very welcoming

Could do better
Stayed one night including a spa. Checked in and room not ready until 4pm which I think is quite late. Was told to leave our luggage near the window which anybody could have picked it up. We didn't leave any valuables in there...Spa was nice. Pool was only 1.5meters and really cold. We upgraded to a club room for an extra £30 just for the aircon really but it included water small bottle wine and a few snacks. Bed was comfortable. Dinner in the evening we were told was 8pm....we didn't book that time... Wanted 7pm but could only get 6.30pm or 9pm. Never had to book a restaurant slot before in the UK in an hotel...Dinner was delicious, ate at Ashtons and the staff were nice it really made our stay.
We received our bill under our door and we were charged again for the club room. I was not happy as when they sent me an email before our stay they offered us the club room and as we were away on holiday I emailed to say please book that room but we couldn't we had to call. Waited until we got back in the UK and was waiting an immigration so gave them a call. After waiting for ages they asked for payment over the phone. Said surely we can pay the £30 on arrival.NO. Pain trying to pay as Gatwick is so noisy and then to be charged again!!!
Biggest thing is the staff (Lucy) on reception. We checked in and out with her. Not once did she smile and she was so cold....Once no smile having a bad day. Second day no smile is a choice!

Do not stay here in a heatwave
We stayed here on Saturday 11th July and it was awful! There is no air conditioning and old fashioned fans that do not work. Also, the windows only open to 4 inches resulting in the room reaching over 30 degrees.
We stayed due to a wedding with our 4 month old baby and ended up taking her outside the hotel to rest, due to the temperature being far cooler outside than in the room.
The staff were not particularly helpful. However Ian was helpful and very kind when we first checked in.
I would stay at the Hilton next time.
They really should warn guests especially those who are vulnerable such as the elderly and babies.

Do not stay here in a Heat Wave
The standard rooms in the main house have no air conditioning, I was on the second floor and the window opened 4 inches. It was horrendously hot and I felt I couldn’t breathe. I asked for an air conditioning room but told they didn’t have any. They should let people know in a heatwave that their rooms are sooo hot and the pathetic fans do nothing but swirl round hot hair. I wish I’d booked the Hilton up the road. Never again, did not sleep at all and left early

Wrong information given by incompetent staff
Called the number given on Google spoke to a young girl on the phone about doing a day pass in the gym as I was going to be in the area. 2 hour drive at 5:30am to arrive at 7:30 to be told we don’t do day passes especially not on F1 weekend. That’s why I was there! I will thank the guy who allowed me to use the changing facilities but why the girl on reception got this so wrong!?
