A pleasent stay
Stayed here with my sister for 1 night on arrival we went into the restaraunt below to collect the keys ,friendly guys with 1 taking us to our room ,up a little side alley up 2 small flights of metal steps ,then into the builing another staircase then our room ,it was well equiped and cosy looked out over a street with shops facing and along the top more shops ,i would say it was a perfect location as just a few steps away was the bridge to go over to the other half of the shopping area & witherspoons for our coffee's it was a pleasant stay apart from it was the day it was extremely windy that nearly lifted you off your feet nut would 100% stay in this apartment again soon ,

Grotty!!
Booked for one night, as a quick getaway.
Poor access down side alley and past restaurant bins
Room was grotty. Although bed was 'made' sheets didn't look liked they'de been changed since last occupants-so slept clothed. Pillow case torn and miss-matched, cheap bedding.
No bottled water as advertised, just a jug, which we didn't use as unsure how long that had been there
Drinking glass was used before seeing two tide marks
Something splashed on bathroom walls
Only positive was location
Won't be going back

Positive:lovely room beds comfy, clean and warm lovely area and everything near by
Negative: very noisy upstairs every time went toilet or shower and slamming doors hardly slept with banging about

Cosy and convenient
This was a very clean room with tea and coffee facilities lots of hot water and nice bedding and towels. it was ideal for our needs - just the stairs up to room 3 might have been a bit much for one of our party that has mobility issues. Saying that though it was really in a great central place and the staff at the restaurant who took us to the room were so friendly - we ate at the Four Seasons and I did a separate review for this. Whitby is a great place and this room was just right for our short stay and the price reasonable

Misleading
This property is rooms located above a restaurant, with access via a narrow alleyway at the side of the shop, rear access past the rubbish bins and up an external metal staircase. Staff were using the area for smoking cigarettes.
Check in was problematic, the restaurant staff didn't have my details and had to make a couple of phone calls before unhappily taking me through the alleyway and pointing out a door and telling me my room was at the top of the stairs (room 2).
The room overlooks the street. No blinds, have to keep the curtains ( silver stars and moons, like from a childs bedroom) closed for privacy. The bed is shoved into a corner, under the windows and only accessible from one side. Immediately I noticed the bed was hastily made, with the duvet cover inside out and the two pillow cases did not fit. Unfortunately, white "drool" marks were visible on the pillow cases. The TV remote was missing. The bathroom shower tray had visible shoe marks and debris, there were crumbs on the nightstand. I immediately reported this to restaurant staff, who proceeded to argue amongst themselves as to who had made up ( or not) the room. I went out and upon my return the cover and pillow case were replaced, though still not fitting. The TV remote was still missing! and could not use the TV.
Traffic noise calmed around 11pm, only to be replaced by the upstairs tenants footsteps creaking through the ceiling and the external doors banging.
In conclusion:
Location is good, no parking, had to bring luggage from nearby 24 hour carport
Staff are incompetent
Cleanliness left a lot to be desired
Bedding is cheap, mismatched and ill-fitting. Towels were thin and scratchy. Invest in some better quality towels and bedding.
I suspect that the room had not been serviced properly between guests which is a disgrace.
