Solo spa day
The spa experience was great. I recommend the Indian head massage and the customer service was really good. Aroosa was very kind.

Great Rooms, but F&B Really Lets the Hotel Down
Stayed at Crowne Plaza Reading East and found a big gap between the excellent rooms and the poor food & beverage offering.
Rooms: Modern, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Check‑in was smooth and professional.
F&B: Monty’s Lounge menus were grubby. The £55 Chablis wasn’t available, and a simple £3 price match to the £58 Sancerre was refused by both bar staff and the restaurant manager, so we didn’t order.
Breakfast was weak: over‑cooked eggs, mushy salty salmon, deep‑fried sausages, dry croissants, and slow table clearing.
Check‑Out: When I said “Great hotel, but F&B is not good,” the receptionist replied “Great to hear,” then admitted she hadn’t understood. Not ideal.
Overall: Lovely rooms and good front‑of‑house, but the F&B operation needs a reset. The contrast impacted the stay more than it should.

Disappointing
Not the best Crowne Plaza hotel I've been to. I was disappointed. There was no soap in the shower cubicle which was extremely annoying. We told the front desk who said they would tell housekeeping, yet 24 hours later there was still no soap.
The pillows were lumpy, it's definitely time to buy new ones and the mattress was too soft for my liking(but that's a personal preference).
Service at breakfast was poor. The coffee machine wasn't working properly two mornings and the staff were gathered at the entrance to the restaurant chatting so loudly that I could hear all the gossip. I had to approach them in order to request things, and one more thing, my breakfast seat had no cutlery or place setting on one of the mornings. I had to help myself and take a place setting off the table next to mine.
Definitely not up to usual Crowne Plaza standards.

A Relaxing Stay with Outstanding Customer Service
We had a wonderful overnight spa stay and couldn't be happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were warm, welcoming, and professional, making us feel comfortable straight away.
A special thank you goes to Aroosa at the spa reception. She was absolutely amazing! It was my husband's first spa experience, and he was feeling a little nervous. Aroosa took the time to reassure him with such kindness and patience, making him feel completely at ease. Her warm smile, friendly personality, and genuine care really stood out. She went above and beyond to make our visit special, and her exceptional customer service made all the difference to our stay.
The breakfast staff were also incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed to start our day.
Aroosa is a true credit to the team polite, welcoming, professional, and incredibly helpful. Staff like her are the reason guests return, and we will definitely be coming back. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so relaxing and memorable!

Nice time
The room was functional and comfortable, with everything needed for a short stay. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and welcoming.
The spa staff were particularly lovely and informative, making the experience enjoyable. However, the lounge beds in the spa could do with being replaced as they looked old and stained.
The restaurant food was okay, but the cleanliness of the glasses and some of the tableware could be improved.
The location is quite remote, so it’s best suited to guests with a car, as getting around without driving may be difficult.Even though there is a train station close by not sure where it goes though.
