Pleasant Stay

A large hotel with a huge beach style pool. Hotel only a couple of blocks from the Esplanade with its waterfront & many restaurants.
My room was a large size with a comfortable big bed. Decor is a bit bland. There is an outdoor balcony off the room. Airconditioning worked fine. Good storage space available. The bathroom is a good size with a walk in shower. There are nice thick towels. Room was clean & well maintained.
There is a large TV with all the local channels. There is strong wifi throughout. And there are plenty of power points & usb attachments.
There is a large restaurant/ bar. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge selection of hot & cold dishes. Lunch & dinner dishes were also good. But found it odd that at a tourist resort the restaurant closes at 9pm.
Staff & service was also good. I don’t normally like chain hotels but I would be happy to stay here again.

Terrible

A perfect hotel for Mum and Dad to sit at the bar while the kids run wild with no supervision. Breakfast was a nightmare, trying to avoid kids. Room was a decent size but toilet seat was broken, kids next door jumping off beds and banging on the adjoining doors. Kids running up and down the hallway completely unsupervised. Second lift was not working for the whole time we were there. Day passes for the public to the detriment of hotel patrons. Would not recommend as there are far better hotels in Cairns for only a little extra cost.

Novotel Cairns - terrible

Unfortunately my/our conference was booked here, so for convenience sake, we stayed here. The conference set up was a disaster. Unable to control the aircon for the room as an individual entity. Was charged $5 a day for a powerboard, not the cost but a conference room without a powerboard for laptops?
Whole place needs renovations. Paint missing, chairs in dining room are disgusting with wet marks on seats. Swimwear or ??
Probably the worst breakfasts at any hotel, I have ever stayed at! Not one item on the bay maree was hot . Not just one day but every day for 5 out of the 6 days. (other day we went out for breakfast as it was so poor).
In the room, it was dated, but ok. Bed was comfortable.Water temp is lukewarm at the max to say the least.
Conference food was appalling. Coffee brought to the conference room / I was having a double espresso, was cold every time.
What can I say?
Don’t have your conference here, and don’t stay here.
The only positive was the pool looked good for kids, but did not try it.

I stayed for 6 nights. My room wasn't cleaned on two of those nights. Even today, I returned from a tour after 9 PM, and it still hadn't been cleaned. The sheets and towels had stains and bloodstains, and the smell of cigarette smoke from the next room made it impossible to open the window. Was the service I paid for provided?

Perfect

Right from the start. Easy check in and friendly helpful staff. Great room (401) overlooking the lovely resort beach style pool. The rooms are very clean and modern, comfortable bed and large tv. Coffee and tea making facilities and a mini fridge for our drinks. The bar downstairs was lovely to sit and have a few drinks. Close to everything and all round perfect. Will stay again next time I’m lucky enough to be up that way
