Great little find

Stayed here after spa 6 hour, just what we needed. Great atmosphere in the village lovely clean hotel, meal good not excellent. Breakfast basic amazing fresh Orange juice. Would recommend for anyone visiting the circuit. Ten mins away, has everything you need.

Great location, small rooms

The hotel is in the center of the action in the small town of Stavelot, and a small underground parking garage is just across the street. Parking is free as the parking ticket pay station is not functioning. The hotel has a restaurant and bar front and center and it was busy or at least somewhat busy all the time we were at the hotel. You must pass through the bar area to the back dining room to find the hotel check in desk. The rooms are up some steep stairs and our room was tiny, with just enough space to get around the bed and move in the bathroom. If you like being among the locals and travelers on the street just outside your hotel this place works. Breakfast was not included in the rate and we chose not to try it. We did enjoy dinner one evening and the trout was excellent. Service was adequate. I asked the man behind the bar to please give me some ice in the glasses I brought down from the room. He used his hands to put a few cubes in each glass. We only used the ice to cool down some cheese we had in a small cooler bag.

regional cuisine

We ate at the restaurant one summer lunch time. When entering from outside (with a nice terrace) you end up in a traditional looking bar, but the space at your right, where we sat down to eat, looks completely different and quite modern. We choose the place because the menu included regional dishes, like the trout from the Ardennes, or the kidneys Liègeois style. The local beers can also be drunk here. Service very pleasant and helpful.

Good stopover

Four of us visiting the Spa-Francochamps circuit had a pleasant two nights' stop here. Good location and although we didn't eat there the restaurant was always full.

Not impressed

I stayed at this hotel with a friend while touring the Ardennes. We stayed in the "annex" which is in the street behind. The mattress was thin with a thin pillow also. The bedside lamp was not very bright and part of the shade had melted where it had (presumably) leaned on the globe for too long. The bath was ok if you wanted to use it for a bath, but if you wanted to use it as a shower then the floor is bound to be soaking since there is no shower curtain or screen, and you have to hold the shower head in one hand while washing with the other. The TV is very small, there are no guest instructions (for anything apart from room departure time) and while there is a safe in the room, there are no instructions on how to use it. We also had to tape the blind on the window shut each night as the sun sets about 11pm and it would not stay closed by itself.
Having said that it is in the middle of town, but Stavelot is small, so everything really is the middle of town. Breakfast was a croissant, a white bread roll, a wholemeal bread roll, a slice of cheese, a slice of ham, some spreads, a hard boiled egg, about 200ml of orange juice (which is a standard European serving) and tea/coffee. The breakfast staff were friendly and professional.
I was reminded of my backpacking/hostel days, not something that I want to happen in a hotel, sorry.
