Hostel Centar se nachází v Záhřebu, v samém centru a blízko všech hlavních památek. Tento hostel sídlí v historické budově, která byla zrekonstruována v roce 2024 a nabízí tradiční dekorace a moderní vybavení. K dispozici je bezplatné Wi-Fi.

A remarkably good hostel right in the centre
A remarkably good hostel right in the centre (as its name suggests) and excellent value.
I stayed in a private room, with shared bathroom, which was light and airy and with a window overlooking the roofs of buildings on the street. (Room 2, pictures attached). The bathrooms are immaculately clean, there's a big fridge and a modestly sized kitchen area with microwave and kettle (and free tea and coffee). You can store your luggage in the common area.
The two ladies who run the place are very helpful - and between the two of them are available through WhatsApp 24/7. And I was given a leaflet on arrival with some suggestions on where to eat by the hostel, which was helpful. Access to the building and hostel is through PIN code meaning a late check in is possible.

Embarrassing.
I leave the review here, as I had a reservation from Booking in this hostel, but it was a waste of time, as we had the reservation for September 27, and since August 20 I proposed time to check-in the day of arrival, I got to write to them up to 3 times and got no response, until a few days before September 27, seeing that they did not answer, I called them, also got no response... And I left an e-mail to see if they could confirm if they were at least alive, because it was horny...
Fortunately I had a reply 2 days before the 27th, in which they told me that in order to give me a pin to enter the accommodation, I had to make the payment. Now the fun, since I had my card on Booking I indicated that they could charge it whenever they wanted, but then the thing changed, as they told me that the payment was outside Booking and should be done through a link that would pass me from CorvusPay (without giving explanations or what it is) and that until I paid for that link, I would not have access.
First of all, being told that you will be passed a link of something you do not know does not give much confidence, but after being validated that it is an existing and secure form of payment I told them that I found strange that way, but that I would pay it equally that way. From that message I did not get a reply again, not even the link, and within half an hour they rejected my card from Booking, which was correct, simply when I updated it to collect payment, they rejected it, until after several attempts and even messages to ask that if I failed for some reason and if I could do something, without telling me anything, they canceled my reservation.
We had been traveling for a few days, so the time we had to see options was quite fair, and above all having less than 2 days in advance to look for accommodation, which was going to cost more money than expected also because of the closeness of the dates...
A nefarious Service, they just passed us by and we still have no explanations about it.
Regarding what I said at the beginning, since Booking only seems to have good reviews, I understand that the same thing may have happened to other people, and since we have not been in the accommodation, we can not put a review about this hostel, but I think it is embarrassing and I wanted to put this message so that more people know what they do (at least with some people, not all from what I see, so it may be a lottery or who knows, depending on the desire of who manages this hostel...).

Really central property, however not the most sociable place. Extremely hot at night and there was nobody there on the first day to get the €5 aircon remote from. Really clean.

The property was in a great location in the city center, and for a few nights stay it is worth the price! The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and I would defiantly stay here again in the future :)
