Good hotel on 4th Ring Road

On the northern stretch of the 4th Ring Road, not far from the Olympic Park and a short taxi ride from Peking University and the Summer Palace, the Beijing Tibet Hotel is a good, fairly inexpensive business hotel. Full breakfast is included with both Western and Asian options, and staff speak enough (minimal) English to check you in and out. Rooms are good enough and large by Chinese standards. Not in a tourist area, but enjoy being in a Beijing neighborhood and seeing how local folks really live. This was my second visit in several years, and it seems reliable. Also a good restaurant in the hotel.

dirty, crap internet and rude staff (except the cleaning lady)

-the rooms are very dirty
- Air conditioning did not work and took them forever to fix (they litteraly fixed it the second after we demanded a new room).
- when asked if we could borrow an umbrella they demanded deposit even if we are hotel guest , 200RMB!!! for 1 umbrella? its like a 1 dollar maximum umbrella.
- just dont use the internet, it will make you frustrated as hell. you need to log in every 2 minutes and the conenction is utterly crap.
if you like some omelletes in the morning you can ask the chefs and if you are lucky one of them will do it for you, the rest will just say "dont have" even if you say its just eggs with tomato and onions (which they have next to them)

Good location with average service

I lodged at there for 4 days in mid Oct., the front desk stuff are not friendly, let alone hospitable at all during my check in. Room is not clean enough as I did spot the long hairs in bathroom, but the housekeeper are quite friendly and efficient, they took action to get those highly undesirable and unpleasant things out of my sight with sincere apologies soon after my complaint. This hotel is quite popular with foreigners as they are fancy with the exotic Tibet cultures. In term of the location, it is 5 to 10 mins drive from the well known bird nest stadium and a Tibet culture museum just on the opposite side of the street, the guest there get easy access to those place of interests easily, it is quite convenient as a shopping mall just nearby. One more thing worth to notice, the free wifi are provided but you have to reconnect it all the time since it is not stable and convenient at all.

Surprisingly Nice!

Stayed here for one night; I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room; very clean; good beds; lots of hot water with a large shower and washroom area; two restaurant options; was very good--enjoyed quality dinner experience at the Tang Palce Restaurant. Lots of decorations and cultural exhibition items that represent Tibet.
Quite lose to the Bird's Next and other locations in that area. Cost very reasonable for the quality of this hotel.

Average

The room was small with a city view, but the hotel is conveniently located. No staff members spoke English, which was both surpring and frustrating. The breakfast buffet was good. Dinner at the restaurant next door was traditional and quite spicy.
