fantastic place to stay, superb location connected to HKRI Taikoo Hui shopping mall, lot of restaurants and cafes close by, changle road is close by, superb service and ask for JOY HE if you need assistance with reservations / shopping / information, she was brilliant.

The Best Family Stay in Shanghai

We had an amazing stay at The Sukhothai Shanghai and would happily return on our next visit. Every member of the staff was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The Michelin-starred restaurant on the first floor was absolutely incredible—one of the best meals we had in Shanghai—and it deserves even more recognition. The breakfast was also excellent, with a wide variety of high-quality dishes. Our only small suggestion would be to let in a little more natural light during breakfast by opening the curtains. As we were traveling with a young child, we also felt the first-floor lobby was slightly too dim at times. Finally, the turndown service was exceptional and made us feel truly cared for. Thank you for such a memorable and relaxing stay!

Horrible service

Be warned if traveling with children. We booked a room for 3 guests — a married couple and our 12-year-old daughter — and the reservation clearly reflected all 3 guests from the start. Upon arrival, the hotel refused to provide a rollaway bed or any additional sleeping arrangement unless we paid an additional $500 USD — on top of our $350/night rate. Every other hotel we have stayed at in China accommodated this request at no charge. We escalated to front desk, called down, and had our travel provider call on our behalf. The hotel would not budge. For a property that markets itself on personalized luxury service, this was a significant disappointment and frankly a misrepresentation of what a 3-guest booking implies. Families should be aware before booking.

A real 5 star hotel

This is a customer oriented hotel and the best service provider. Rooms are very comfortable and clean, staffers are extremely friendly and helpful, and the management is making sure that each and every services are satisfied. This is the best money can buy 5 star hotel! Thanks for your best service!

They treated people differently

First all, you can’t take a hot shower without triggering the fire alarm. Therefore, my wife and I had to take cold showers the entire stay…. Also, was denied upgrades as a diamond member while other diamond member check in the same time got their upgrades. They stated oh you don’t have to wait for the standard room… felt a bit racially profiled. We did not have much interaction with the staffs afterward.
