Fab STAY

fantastic place to stay, superb location connected to HKRI Taikoo Hui shopping mall, lot of restaurants and cafes close by, changle road is close by, superb service and ask for JOY HE if you need assistance with reservations / shopping / information, she was brilliant.

I think they have a training problem

The hotel facilities and standards are up to par. However, there are significant issues with staff training. When I arrived, I asked a staff member at the hotel entrance where I was checking in, and he said he didn't know. When I asked him to take my luggage to my room, he said he couldn't and told me to talk to the front desk myself. The next morning, when I went to eat, I saw someone asking where the restaurant was, and a staff member replied that he didn't know.

The Best Family Stay in Shanghai

We had an amazing stay at The Sukhothai Shanghai and would happily return on our next visit. Every member of the staff was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The Michelin-starred restaurant on the first floor was absolutely incredible—one of the best meals we had in Shanghai—and it deserves even more recognition. The breakfast was also excellent, with a wide variety of high-quality dishes. Our only small suggestion would be to let in a little more natural light during breakfast by opening the curtains. As we were traveling with a young child, we also felt the first-floor lobby was slightly too dim at times. Finally, the turndown service was exceptional and made us feel truly cared for. Thank you for such a memorable and relaxing stay!

Must mention Sukothai's concierge. They are really very helpful from lending (end up giving )us plug adaptors to searching and helping us order essential items online. Most helpful and resourceful hotel concierge.
We actually booked CoreStay apartments via another platform and the place was so disgusting we had to move out immediately. So lucky to be able to book Sukothai last minute and they even accomodated us with adjoining rooms. This is our second time staying here and will come back again next time.

Horrible service

Be warned if traveling with children. We booked a room for 3 guests — a married couple and our 12-year-old daughter — and the reservation clearly reflected all 3 guests from the start. Upon arrival, the hotel refused to provide a rollaway bed or any additional sleeping arrangement unless we paid an additional $500 USD — on top of our $350/night rate. Every other hotel we have stayed at in China accommodated this request at no charge. We escalated to front desk, called down, and had our travel provider call on our behalf. The hotel would not budge. For a property that markets itself on personalized luxury service, this was a significant disappointment and frankly a misrepresentation of what a 3-guest booking implies. Families should be aware before booking.
