This is an odd hotel that is also a hostel.
There are several hotels in this building.
Lots of younger folks.
Very few amenities in the room.
Comfortable enough but not great pillows.
Great location with lots of restaurants, close to the train station and short walks to the Duomo.
Breakfast was okay not great.
We got used to the oddness and it was good.

When we checked into our hotel, we got to our room and it was a mess. Housekeeping never touched our room. Staff was understanding when we told them and apologized multiple times, and ended up cleaning it, however, they forgot a trashcan and the towels looked dirty. They were very accommodating and were sincere, but it was a very stressful experience, given the heat, and after getting off a four hour train ride. We were offered an additional free drink at their bar for the experience. Additionally, we paid extra for breakfast per night unfortunately, the food quality was not very good. We ended up eating out for breakfast on our second night, even though we paid for the hotels.

Shameful!

We have just returned from a trip to Florence, for goodness sake a nice hotel, very close to the center, you can move safely on foot. There were two things that really bothered me so much:
1. On my reservation it said breakfast included and free cancellation, then at breakfast time I went and I hear no here breakfast is not done, I let it run because all in all I am a great lady;
2. Not on this thing at all! Yesterday after returning from the tour we had all the members of our family the feeling that someone had rummaged through our suitcase, but as idiots we thought it was probably moved to dust or because it bothered, unaware of the
criticality, only now back home and emptying the suitcase we realized that what we saw the day before was truth someone had rummaged through our suitcase taking small souvenirs that had been bought for relatives and friends. However we called the structure to ask if many times they had been left involuntarily in the room we were told no! But after my insistence saying but why did they disappear from my suitcase? My phone was stuck in my face! Shame on you!

Great location and value.

Don’t be put off by unusual location. Easy lift access to third floor and great views of Duomo from some rooms. Very clean and all you need for a delightful stay in Florence. This is a family run hotel and they are very friendly and attentive. Location is convenient for leather market, Mercato Centrale, Accadamia and Duomo.

Hotel Merlini is a beautiful and unique stay! My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and loved our room, the rustic Tuscan decor and the family who run the hotel are so hospitable and friendly, we didn't want to leave! The location is so central in Florence, recommend very highly!
