Excellent location and perfect hospitality

The Kaminarimon ryokan is located next to the Kaminarimon gate, in the Asakusa area. The location is very convenient for getting around, as it is close to the SkyTree and several metro stops and stations. From our room, we could see both (SkyTree and Senso-ji), and nearby there are streets with many little shops and izakayas (places to eat).
The facility is very clean, the staff was truly kind and welcoming, they even gave me a gift for my birthday (thank you again!!!) and provided a box of chocolates as a gift when we left.
The room is quite spacious, with separate futon beds, a table and chairs, a wardrobe, a TV, and it is very clean. In the entrance, there is space to leave shoes and hang clothes, plus a cabinet with everything needed to prepare tea or coffee, a minibar, and a safe.
We did not try the breakfast.
The bathroom is small but functional, with a shower and bathtub, hairdryer, and courtesy kit available.
Excellent hospitality, kindness, and availability of the staff.
Absolutely recommended structure!

Serene Escape at Kaminarimon Ryokan

This ryokan is a must stay. The entrance to Kaminarimon Ryokan is tucked to the side and located on the second floor, creating a quiet environment opposite the bustling streets of Sensoji. The front desk staff were welcoming and spoke both English and Japanese, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
During our two-night stay, we experienced two different rooms. The first night, we stayed in the Seigaiha traditional room, which had both western double full beds and a traditional tatami floor futon room. The room had a full amenities bar, a deep Japanese cypress wood bathtub, and a beautiful view of Sensoji. It was the perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional charm.
On the second night, we stayed in the Sakura room, which was a spacious private top floor suite. It included a western and traditional bedroom, a kitchen, a changing and vanity room, and a private wrap-around balcony with breathtaking views of Sensoji, Tokyo Skytree, and the skyline. Waking up to those views was simply magical.
We also enjoyed both a western breakfast and a traditional Japanese breakfast prepared by the hotel chefs, which were delicious and a great way to start our days.
One of the unique aspects of Kaminarimon Ryokan is that the entire ryokan's decorations are curated by the owner and switched to fit every season, adding a special touch to the ambiance and making each visit feel unique. The attention to detail is truly remarkable.
This was my second time staying at Kaminarimon Ryokan, and each visit leaves me feeling refreshed, calm, and renewed. The tranquility and hospitality here are unmatched. I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone visiting Asakusa. Personally, I can't wait to return and experience the serenity and warmth once again. It's like a home away from home.

Amazing Ryokan in the heart of the city

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and experienced two room types because our last night was added later so had to switch because of availability. The deluxe room we started in was absolutely over the top with a tatami mat sitting lounge and separate bedroom & great views of the bustling streets below. The bathroom was very luxurious. The second room was a standard twin room but equally comfortable. The beds are very comfortable (note that some rooms only have futons).
Can’t recommend this property enough!

A Wonderful Stay at Kaminarimon Ryokan

We had a truly wonderful experience at Kaminarimon Ryokan. The staff were exceptionally helpful from check-in to check-out — assisting us with everything from using the self-service washing machines and dryers to recommending great local restaurants.
Our room was surprisingly spacious for Tokyo and beautifully designed in a modern ryokan style. It came fully equipped with air conditioning, an ofuro bath, a Nespresso machine, and many other thoughtful touches that made our stay extra comfortable.
We don’t regret our choice one bit and would wholeheartedly recommend this ryokan to anyone wishing to enjoy authentic Japanese hospitality right in Tokyo.
The location is perfect — just a short walk from Sensō-ji Temple, with a great view of the Tokyo Skytree. There are plenty of dining options nearby and easy access to the Ginza Line for exploring the city.
