Highly recommended

Our bike ride this year took us to the Palatinate this weekend. The hotel was our perfect base camp for several trips.
My room (207) was clean and functional, the bathroom spacious and very well equipped.
There is nothing wrong with breakfast - good standard.
The first night we ate at the hotel. The boss cooks herself and her rump steak was brilliant.
Overall we were very well looked after, the people were friendly, helpful and competent.
Thank you again.

Price Performance not suitable - not suitable for hot weather

Unfortunately, the heat on the weekend could not stand without air conditioning or at least ventilation/fan in the rooms. At least 2 glasses and a bottle of water in the room would have been nice. The pillows are uncomfortable, as if the filling were made of foam cubes. Unfortunately, the breakfast coffee doesn't taste good.
Very nice hosts. Nice rooms, actually. The message “Thursday and Saturday no room service” can be misinterpreted if one understands it as “room service”, but it means that the rooms are not “made”.
The room rate rather disappointing

A stop over

3 weeks ago we stopped here for 1 night on the way back from our skiing vacation.
Very friendly and accommodating reception, something you don't come across that often. In our reservation we asked for quiet rooms at the back. This wish was fulfilled and we slept like logs.
The breakfast is absolutely fine.
The area surrounding the hotel, practically the village, is also very beautiful.
The hotel can be highly recommended, especially because of the great friendliness in the house!

restaurant was great in 1970

I am happy to see a hotel associated with this fine restaurant. I was a happy visitor
in 1970 when I was stationed in Worms. Several friends and I spent happy Friday evenings enjoy a great meal and great Rheine wine. Good memories.

Quaint, but overpriced

This is a quaint hotel in a half-timbered building in the center of lovely Dirmstein. Spacious and nicely updated bathroom. Excellent breakfast included. But the room was nothing unusual: no cable TV, no flat screen TV, no darkening for the windows for sleeping late (only thin curtains), no a/c or even a fan for hot days. This is big city price for a tiny town with few amenities. Unfortunately the only other option in Dirmstein is the extreme budget Gasthaus Bengel a few doors down from Kempf.
