Nice and well-located hotel
A very well-located hotel. Although it is at the end of the town, you can reach many attractions (ferries to Juist and Norderney, DB, Netto, bowling, mini-golf, amusement park, and of course the sea) within a few minutes' walk. You can take great walks on the dike and look around to see where you would like to stop later. In between, enjoy a great ice cream at Frieseneis or a cool drink at Utkiek.
Somewhat disappointing was the superior room with sea view. Although booked a year in advance, we unfortunately only received a side sea view, which, with a lot of goodwill, was not much to speak of, as there were only tall trees blocking any view. The room was also somewhat dated. Nevertheless, it was very cozy and decorated with a Nordic-maritime flair. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept very well there. The balcony invited relaxation and was large enough for two high-back chairs and a small table. The shower worked very well (which is unfortunately not always the case).
The wellness area could be highlighted a bit more. The small outdoor pool, sauna, relaxation area, and sun loungers are located in very cozy settings and are highly recommended for those who enjoy seeing the beach and sea but prefer to soak up the sun near the pool (I would suggest adding hooks for bathrobes near the pool for those who just want to take a quick dip).
The reception at the front office was warm; I received all the information immediately, and I was able to store my luggage before the actual check-in so that I could head straight to the beach.
The nearest pharmacy is in the north.

This hotel is not recommended.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this hotel. The difficulties began when they wanted to refuse the trained guide dog that accompanied me. The references to the legal situation, which does not allow the refusal of assistance dogs, were initially ignored by both the receptionist and the hotel director. Instead, they threatened to cancel the booking four days before arrival. Only the mention of a lawyer prompted the hotel management to act in accordance with the law.
We had booked a room with a balcony on the east deck with a harbor view. However, we had to find out that the heavily trafficked B72 runs directly under our balcony, where there is also heavy traffic in the evening. This was not evident from the photo with which the hotel presents itself.
Additionally, during our stay, metal components of the balconies were being sanded down around, above, and next to our room. Neither before nor upon our arrival were we informed about the significant additional noise pollution. In response to a complaint, they attempted to brush us off. Only after sending an email to management, in which we requested a reasonable reduction in travel costs, did we receive a discount.
Even with the moderate temperatures in May, the air in the room quickly became stuffy. We faced the choice of either enduring the loud street noise or the overheated and stuffy room air. Due to the location of the rooms in the east wing along the highway, an air conditioning unit would be essential here. However, such a unit is missing, as are modern USB outlets.
We had to notice that the back cushion made of synthetic leather behind the bed was disintegrating, causing synthetic leather particles to fall into the bed. The mention of this deficiency had no effect.
The cleanliness also did not meet our expectations. Gray hairs from a previous guest and cookie crumbs were found in the carpet, champagne glasses were dusty, and the door frame to the balcony had not been cleaned for a long time.
Although the staff was friendly, and the restaurant is recommended. We believe that the described circumstances and the behavior of the hotel management do not correspond to what one should expect from a four-star hotel in this price range.

With North Sea view
For a short trip to the North Sea, our suite was correspondingly large and well equipped, with a side view of the harbour. Breakfast was extensive and good. The evening menu was nothing special.

Recommended for a business trip, as a holiday hotel rather less.
The location is not necessarily favorable, but you can live with it, depending on the reason you are in Norddeich. The dike, for an extensive walk, is very close, the ferry also. Depending on the room, however, you live directly at the level crossing on the tracks of the trains that run onto the ferry. However, the trains do not run at night. However, from around 5am in the morning, it is impossible to think of sleeping with the window open or tilted. The parking situation I would also describe as not really comfortable. On arrival or departure there is one (1) parking space directly in front of the reception. The parking spaces directly opposite the entrance are rare and always occupied during my previous stays. You park at the back of the hotel in a side street in a private parking lot with barrier. Rooms are bright, well equipped and comfortable, provided the Nespresso machine works. As a small consolation for the non-functioning machine, a glass of honey was handed over. Great! Breakfast is great. There's definitely nothing missing. Even the evening menu is well sorted for everyone. The attached hotel bar is cozy and welcoming. Funnily enough, during my two stays, the lift was either in maintenance or malfunction mode. Staff are friendly and helpful throughout. If I had to go back to the area, I'd stay here again. As a hotel for holidays, I would look for another place. I didn't see the wellness and cosmetic departments.

Relaxing
Man shapes the place. It is always a pleasure to meet helpful, authentically friendly staff at a beautiful place like the lovingly decorated Hotel Fährhaus. Thank you very much, I would love to come back!
