Our experience was lovely, clean rooms and helpful staff. They even played the World Cup game at 4 am for me! Recommend staying here if you’re looking for an escape from the busy tourist area of Lisbon. Added plus the Metro being so close-life saving when coming back from walking miles in Sintra and Lisbon.

4 stars? Very far from it

Stay at Hotel Fénix Urban in Lisbon from 27 to 30 March 2026 (booking via Private Travel).
We had booked a Twin room (2 separate beds). On arrival we are given a double bed. I report it immediately, and I am told that it is indeed “two separate beds”.
In reality, not at all: two mattresses glued with a mattress pad, so a double bed. Reservation not respected, and misleading information from the start.
For 3 days:
- no solution proposed
- no follow-up
- no support
Only the second day an employee comes to explain the system, specifying that the mattress can be removed... but it will be “less comfortable”. So we discourage you from correcting the problem.
Comfort side:
- one down on arrival
- obliged to look for a second one myself in the wardrobe without cover
-after request, I am given a simple folded sheet as down
For a 4-star rating, this is unacceptable.
We spent 3 nights like this, no improvement.
At breakfast, the person writing down the room numbers is very unkind, which reinforces the overall impression.
Another point: an activity advertised as “included” is not actually included. The guide indicates depend on the payment at the end of the visit, so pressure to pay.
This stay was a birthday present from my mother, so necessarily very disappointing.
No excuses, no commercial gestures.
I do not understand how this hotel can be rated 4 stars in view of the service offered.
Avoid if you expect a minimum of seriousness.

This was a wonderful hotel. The location is perfect! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic. I would highly recommend!

Mediocre hotel at best. I opted for a basic room, but did not expect the room to be as small as it was. It seemed to be a converted broom cupboard and barely had room to stand. Definitely smaller than the photos on the website which showed a desk and chair (the room had neither), and the coffee maker was on the bedside stand. Nowhere to put my rucksack, let alone luggage. A minimal perimeter around the bed meant I hit my head on the TV everytime I went to the toilet. The bathroom was a decent size, but this didn’t make up for the lack of space elsewhere. In all my years visiting hotels across Lisbon (and all of Europe), I have never been to 4* hotel with such limited space. In fact, hotels I have stayed in Japan have all been bigger than this - that is quite a feat. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere - there are plenty of decent similar priced hotels in Lisbon around Marquês do Pombal. The check in guy can do with some basic training in friendliness and welcoming staff.
