The BEST hotel in Lisbon!

York House hotel is the oldest hotel in Lisbon. It has so much charm, the place is simply adorable! We loved the history of the place, the architecture, the beautiful courtyard which is so romantically lit up in the evenings. The best part of our stay though has to be the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them, it was our first time in Lisbon & everyone was so helpful. Our little suite was absolutely adorable, the bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up each morning to go sightseeing! I wanted to sleep all day!
We cannot wait to revisit Lisbon & we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

Beautiful two night stay

Fabulous 2 night stay in Lisbon whilst travelling to the Nos Alive festival.
The building was absolutely beautiful & full of old period features & artifacts. The room was large, cool & spotlessly clean. Spent time in the lovely courtyard garden with glasses of wine enjoying the lush surroundings. Great location for a pleasant walk into Chiado & good links to tram & train. The staff were polite & helpful & the stay was excellent value for money.
We would definitely return here.

Beautiful stay in a historic setting with top-notch service

We spent seven days in May 2026 at the York House in Lisbon and stayed in a junior suite. The room was sufficiently large and very tastefully furnished. The cleaning and towel changes occurred daily and were absolutely thorough.
The breakfast was good, including delicious cake and fresh fruit. The service throughout the establishment was first-class; the staff was always very friendly and accommodating. This is especially true for the reception – the staff there was extremely helpful and completely guest-oriented.
An important note, especially for older or mobility-impaired guests: There are many steps up in the hotel. However, assistance or a porter is available. It is best to give a brief notice in advance if one wishes to take advantage of this support.
Regarding the situation: The hotel is centrally located. The Praça do Comércio, the Cais do Sodré train station (where one can purchase the rechargeable Navegante tickets), and the Time Out Market Lisboa are easily reachable on foot or conveniently by bus and tram 25. Additionally, numerous cafés and the National Museum of Ancient Art (only about 350 meters away) are in close proximity.
About the hotel itself: It is a former monastery. The furnishings are appropriately antique – one must naturally like that, but for us, it was perfectly fine.
The absolute highlight is the romantic courtyard and garden. Here, one can wonderfully relax after a tiring day in the city and enjoy the tranquility with a Portuguese rosé wine (highly recommended).
If we were to travel to Lisbon again, we would book this wonderful hotel once more.

Cleanliness, kindness and charm!

Very nice and well-kept structure. Staff very kind, helpful and always smiling. The rooms are modern and functional, spotless and comfortable. The location, although not central, allows you to go to the center even on foot and guarantees peace and quiet rest. Improved the sweet breakfast department. Recommended!

Wonderful experience in Lisbon

The personnel was exceptionally kind and helpful. The room and breakfast were decent. The patio is super cozy and beautiful. It was a great experience.
If you travel with a big luggage it may be somehow difficult to carry it all the way up as the elevator isn’t available yet. Upon departure we’re offered an assistance with our luggage, though it wasn’t required.
