Very nice place
We spent our last evening in Sri Lanka here. Great welcome and nice, clean rooms. The host, his wife and granparents were very kind and helpful. Location is not at the beach, but you get there very easy by tuktuk (100 roepies).

Worst experience ever
Pros
Mosquito net. It is a not a must on the island depending on where you stay. This one was covered with dead insects all over the top of it. Not really a pleasant view, so a little cleaning wouldn’t harm.
Fridge. Not every place here has a refrigerator so it was a nice touch.
Cons
On booking.com we were told that our room is 60sq m. It’s nowhere near 40. Most of the space is occupied by a large bed.
No place to hang or put your clothes in. There’s only a little nightstand you can put your documents in and maybe underwear.
There’s a table a room could’ve done better off without because it’s only usable if you are a kid or stand 5’0. Still you’d have to lean towards it as the chair is too big for it.
There are ants in the bathroom. Imagine minding your business and encountering an army of those little guys swarming around your feet.
When we came back from out late dinner the gates of the property were closed. No one even told us of such thing so we had to slam on those gates until someone showed up.
Finally, when we settled in for sleep and turned off the lights, someone was lurking behind the window. Not only that, later they tried to sneak into our room through the same window. Only after we’ve turned on the lights it stopped and we had to spend the rest of the night in terror with our lights on.
That was the breaking point, first thing in the morning we wanted to check out and were called liars for those complaints. Instead we were showed a rating on booking.com as if it should’ve made us forget all the things that we’ve been through.
When we asked for a partition amount of our money to be refunded, the owner said it is not possible because they have to pay booking.com and our room was reserved specifically for us for a time of our stay and thus no one else could’ve booked it for the same time. All that while having rooms available on booking.com.
When were about to leave the premises, the owner caught up to us and demanded our key to be returned. Even though we’ve paid for the whole stay and been told they cannot cancel the booking.
The very next day thought we’ve got a notification that our booking was cancelled.

Nice Budget option in town
Stayed one night a week ago. It is very much a guest house- 4 rooms off main living area. My room was clean with queen bed, clean bath with updated fixtures. The owners are very friendly. Solid breakfast with lots of fruit and eggs cooked to order. Walking distance from train. 5 mins walk from beach. Very secure with 3 friendly watchdogs. Excellent wifi too. It's a 5 star, but the location knocks it down a 1/2 notch for me . That being said, if you want a nice clean place at a decent $, you won't be disappointed.

Забронировал через букинг.ком номер 60 м2 с металлическим сейфом и звукоизоляцией.
Написал хозяевам отеля несколько вопросов по поводу их геста, но ни на один из них мне не ответили (с чем я в принципе столкнулся первый раз - обычно оперативно отвечают).
Когда прибыл на место нам предложили заселиться в номер размером чуть больше кровати - примерно 9 м2(слева от кровати было пространство около метра и с торца кровати был около метра), без сейфа, без какого то нибыло шкафа (предлагалась только маленькая тумбочка) и без всякой звукоизоляции.
Ужасно шумно было отовсюду - внутри орали и плакали дети, снаружи сильный шум машин от автодороги и какие то работы во внутреннем дворике. Слышно было даже как растения поливают!
На мою претензию по размеру номера мне сказали, что это какая то ошибка и у них нет сейфов вообще, а номер большего размера стоит дороже. И вообще чем это я недоволен за такие деньги?
Воспользовавшись их вайфаем (ловил только в одном месте в холле) я забронировал другую гостиницу и мы тут же уехали.

Excellentissime !!!
Nous avons passé une semaine superbe dans cette maison d'hôtes aux habitants adorables, discrets et sympathiques ! Le petit déjeuner inclus est incroyable : assiette de fruits frais, œufs, café thé, yaourts, fromage, toasts ou crepes ou hopper ou curry.. Parfait ! La propreté est impeccable tout comme le confort de la literie ou la salle de bain. Notre moment "luxe" au Sri Lanka à un prix défiant toute concurrence, le tout à 5 minutes à pieds de la mer : nous recommandons à 200% !!
