Amazing experience in Istanbul
Room & Comfort
Upgrades: Booked a Club Room and received a complimentary upgrade upon arrival—a wonderful touch that set a great tone for the trip.
Highlights: Exceptionally comfortable bed, excellent air conditioning, and a fantastic high-pressure shower. In-room Nespresso machine refilled daily alongside tea/coffee options. Luxury Byredo Bal d'Afrique toiletries provided.
Areas for Improvement: Room showed minor wear and tear from age; bathtub plug failed to hold water. Towels were clean but showed noticeable wear.
Ground-Floor Club Lounge
Daytime Refreshments: Access to complimentary soft drinks, tea, and coffee throughout the day.
Afternoon Tea (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Daily service featuring sweet and savory bites with Turkish tea.
Happy Hour (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM): Great cocktail selection, local Efes lager, and an excellent hot/cold buffet spread.
Atmosphere Note: Lounge shares space with the Winter Garden, which can occasionally reduce the private lounge feel during busy hours.
Breakfast Operations & Proactive Service Recovery
Morning Breakfast Service: Breakfast gets very busy during peak hours. Ordering custom eggs via table cards is simple, though omelettes can take 10–15 minutes during peak times. There can also be short queues for the single specialty coffee machine and occasional delays restocking items like juice, mugs, or bowls.
Proactive Management & Outstanding Service Recovery: When brought to the attention of hotel management, their response was immediate, professional, and genuinely caring. To make up for any morning inconvenience, they generously invited us to dine at Safran, the hotel's fine-dining restaurant.
Safran Restaurant Highlight: This gesture completely elevated our stay—our meal at Safran was absolutely stunning and easily the most amazing food we had during our entire trip to Istanbul. Paired with sweeping Bosphorus views, the culinary quality and hospitality at Safran represent top-tier luxury service.
Spa, Gym & Pool Facilities
Turkish Hammam & Spa (Highlight): The Turkish Hammam experience, complete with a traditional bath and massage, was a standout highlight of the trip. The therapists and staff were super attentive, professional, and delivered a truly memorable experience.
Fitness & Gym: Impressive fitness facility with dedicated cardio and weights suites, plus sauna and steam room.
Outdoor Swimming Pool: Fantastic pool area with cool, refreshing water. Pool staff were exceptionally attentive, immediately bringing towels and setting up sun loungers upon arrival.
2. Getting Around Istanbul (Logistics & Transit)
Hotel Transit Hack (Taksim Station to F1 Funicular)
Underground Access: The Taksim Metro Station (M2) entrance right near the hotel on Cumhuriyet Cd. features an underground travelator taking you directly under Taksim Square to the F1 Kabataş Funicular. This bypasses walking across the busy square.
Easy Transfers: Taking the F1 funicular down to Kabataş connects directly to the T1 tram line into the Old City (Sultanahmet) or the ferry terminal.
Istanbulkart Usage
Shared Card: You only need 1 Istanbulkart for 2 people—simply tap it back-to-back at turnstiles.
Cost & Value: Very affordable (~47 TRY per scan, roughly £1.50 total for two people to travel across the Golden Horn/Bosphorus).

Beautiful
The best Intercontinental we have stayed in. Excellent location, on Taksim Square, subway a few minutes away. Spectacular reception and lobby. Fast check-in, Ambassador status recognized. Many thanks to Polina who honored our first visit to Istanbul and an important anniversary with an upgrade to a corner suite on the 17th floor. Fabulous view from the Bosphorus to the old city, unforgettable by night and by day. Cleaning and attention to detail at the top, we don't remember the housekeeper's name but she was a very kind and always smiling lady. The rooms should perhaps be renovated but the bed was very comfortable. Marble bathroom, soft bathrobe, and the Bal d’Afrique line that I adore. All the staff available and affable, many young people. The endless breakfast, a quality and assortment never seen before (Turkish and international specialties, wonderful fruit and desserts). It's a shame not to have taken advantage of other services like the pool, spa, and club lounge with various complimentary refreshments, but Istanbul is a city that has so much to offer and we were out all day. We will return and will choose this hotel again.

Exceptional Stay at InterContinental Istanbul
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the InterContinental Istanbul, and I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the entire team for delivering an outstanding guest experience.
From the moment I arrived, the customer service was absolutely impeccable. Every staff member I encountered was professional, courteous, attentive, and genuinely committed to ensuring guests felt welcomed and valued. My Platinum (Ambassador) tier had been recognised prior to arrival as the app on my phone showed I had been upgraded to a Bosphorus view business suite. Unfortunately, the upgrade was not available at check-in, and they accommodated a junior suite with City/Sea view instead. I was offered to change to the business suite mid-stay though.
The check-in and check-out processes were seamless, efficient, and handled with the highest level of professionalism. After a hectic work week prior to arrival, it was refreshing to be greeted by a well-organized and friendly front desk team that made the arrival experience effortless. Similarly, departure was quick and smooth, this time handled by Victoria YILDIRIM at the Club Lounge, leaving me with nothing but positive memories of my stay.
I would also like to extend special congratulations to the housekeeping team. The room was maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort, with great attention to detail evident every day.
The breakfast buffet was another highlight. The selection was extensive, fresh, and beautifully presented. Equally impressive was the breakfast staff, whose attentiveness, efficiency, and welcoming attitude created a wonderful start to each day. Their dedication to guest satisfaction did not go unnoticed.
My congratulations and gratitude to all, but special shoutout to the Club Lounge, Housekeeping department, and breakfast buffet staff. Their collective efforts exemplify true hospitality and set a benchmark for excellence. InterContinental Istanbul should be proud of such an exceptional team led by Sinan UDIL, GM. I had the chance to speak to him and thank him in person.
I would like to make a special mention of the Club Lounge staff, whose warmth and attentiveness made each visit memorable. In particular, my sincere thanks to Polina SUTYRINA, as well as to the hostess whose name I unfortunately did not note, but whose warm smile at happy hour helped bring each demanding workday to a perfect close. I would also like to thank the bartender at City Lights for preparing one of the best dry martinis I have had in a long time. His secret Bloody Mary salt mix was truly epic and another memorable detail of an already exceptional stay.
I look forward to returning in the future and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul.

Fabulous hotel in great location
I had a great three night stopover at the Intercontinental as part of a Turkish Airlines package. It’s a luxury hotel in a great location, about five minutes walk to Taksim Metro station and Istiklal Street. My room was spacious with a view over the Bosphorus. The buffet breakfast is huge with a great selection of local and western options. Great service from all the staff I spoke to during my stay. While many tourists prefer hotels in the old city, I’d happily go back to the Intercontinental. It’s an easy trip by public transport to the sites of the old city, and the Taksim area has a less touristy feel.
