The property itself is a basic apartment, but safe and relatively quiet. Access to restaurants and breakfast street was great.

The location is everything. Employees are super nice and friendly. It is surrounded by millions grocery and dining options. Super safe and close to main public transportation. We will stay here every time we visit Istanbul.

Great stay
We needed a stay in Istanbul just after the war broke out. Newway apartments were a great option.
We had our cat with us, and she also loved the stay.
Overall, it was a great choice during a really stressful time in our lives.

Cheap, Smelly, Loud, HORRID management
Absolutely HORRIBLE experience with this host in an apartment that is OLD and OUTDATED. Don’t trust the pictures, this place is below average in every possible way.
I should have read the reviews on google before booking on airbnb. The reviews there used to be reliable, but now it’s clear they are biased, highly edited, and curated to maximize profits and give "Super-Host" status to individuals that don’t deserve the amount of money they’re charging. This is why google reviews are far superior to any other service. Just look below at how many 1 and 2 star reviews this guy got...
Let me first comment on the apartment itself, so you get a clear idea of what you’ll get
- The bed is cheap. The mattress springs poke out and you feel the metal springs against your back
- The furniture stinks like body odor and is way too big for the tiny space
- The AC and Heater do not work properly because it is a cheap, old, and manual system
-The bathroom is way too small, the plumbing hasn’t been maintained and the temperature of the water is not regulated properly.
-The sink in the bathroom is a slop sink. It is too small and unusable
-The kitchen doesn’t have a microwave. The sink is not fully installed to the countertop
-the living room floors are lopsided. The bedroom doesn’t have a window
-The neighbors have loud chickens or pigeons and the sound echoes throughout the apartment
2. Now a little about this dude ”Kerem”
This guy is like a used car salesman; malicious, conniving, opportunistic, and deceptive. He has been “hosting” on platforms like Airbnb for years and apparently has learned how to game the system. He managed to become a Super-Host by getting fake reviews, even though his listings are truly sub-par.
The apartment is 4 times more expensive than the others in the area, but I booked a 3 night stay anyway because he was rated highly and is a “Superhost” (a designation that means less and less every-time I use it) I tried to make it work for the first two nights, but the apartment was so uncomfortable that I decided to ask Kerem for a refund for the third night, to which he agreed.
Kerem wasn’t replying to my messages me on Airbnb; instead, he opted to use Whatsapp. Airbnb does not take messages on other platforms into consideration when they mediate disputes; a convenient policy for someone who might have ulterior intentions. He whatsapped me that he initiated the refund and that it would take several days to process. I assumed he was being honest so I booked somewhere else. Several days had passed I asked again about it, he said that it would take 10 more days to process. This is when I sensed something fishy; I’ve hosted people and issued refunds on airbnb in the past, it takes 3 or 4 days not 2 weeks… But I was disoriented after a surgery and couldn’t investigate the matter further. Plus, why assume the worst in people. Well, apparently Airbnb only allows guests a certain number of days after a trip to leave reviews; another convenient policy for someone like Kerem to take advantage of. He wasn’t planning on refunding me and he wanted to strip me of the ability to be honest about my experience. So he lied to stall me for until the 2 week period timed-out
Well, luckily for him I’m not as stupid as I look. I left a review with only a few hours left, which made him furious because he replied with a steaming load of horse..... attacking me personally. The review was filled with lies, and damage control attempts to future guests, and was meticulously designed to slip between the cracks of airbnb’s mediation policies.
I hope he knows I’m not going away until I get my refund and his status as a super host is stripped away.
As for Airbnb, I’m seriously considering to stop using the platform. Maybe they think they’re invincible, the truth is there are plenty of short term rental options and cheap hotel apps out there now that it’s easy to go somewhere else. If Airbnb wants to tolerate and reward this kind of behavior, it raises serious ethics concerns with people like me.

A very cozy and clean room. Located a 2 minutes from all commerces in the heart town of Besiktas.
The staff very attentive and polite. You can totally count on them to clear up any questions in your itinerary in Istanbul.
