A Pleasant Surprise
I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but Mollie's Motel & Diner pleasantly surprised me. I stayed for one night before heading to my next destination, and it turned out to be a great choice.
The room was clean and comfortable, and the reception team gave me a very warm welcome from the moment I arrived. One of the highlights was the beautiful garden, which was filled with colorful flowers and created a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay and would happily recommend Mollie's Motel & Diner to anyone looking for a comfortable stopover.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough! It’s clean, modern and the staff are friendly. It was very inexpensive (may not be all the time but we got a great deal) so honestly I really shouldn’t complain. I really liked the idea of having a water tap (hot and cold) in the hallways. I greatly dislike drinking water from the bathroom tap no matter how many times hotels say it’s safe. So this is a great way to avoid plastic bottles and kettles. Food is at the American diner that’s part of the hotel. You have to pay separately but it’s fine. Only thing though, there was some weird noise (maybe very loud music or someone hitting a wall?) very late in the night so I guess the rooms are not as soundproof as they ought to be. But with great AC, a comfortable bed and a huge bathroom, it’s still a great room.

Mollies diner Farringdon...it's ok but not great
Went for a planned dinner nice and early to avoid any rush and was seated promptly. I ordered as I was seated as I knew exactly what I wanted and was looking forward to it.
I ordered a £12 hotdog and a side of £7 chilli cheese fries plus a milkshake with staff member A. My taste expectation was high having enjoyed many a hot dog in the states over the years.
My milkshake was delivered by staff member B and was nice. Staff member B then brought over my hotdog which was topped with a spattering of chilli cheese ...... no chilli cheese fries. I explained what my order was and he went away.
Staff member A then came to check my order with me and explained that she had not put through what I ordered. She said fries would follow but didn't offer to change my hotdog and went back to order the fries and did not come back so I tucked into the hotdog. Sorry to say I was disappointed with it, the sausage was bland almost like a cheap bratwurst with no independent flavour (certainly not smokey) the brioche roll was a brioche roll and whatever sauces were hidden by the drizzle of chilli which was applied in a way so you could not pick it up to eat. A New York or Chicago comparison it was not. Chilli was bland and black chilli beans were hard.
Half way through the side of chilli cheese fries arrived and was not a luxurious looking offering, as with the dog, the chilli was bland and the black chilli beans contained in it were hard. Needed lots more cheese sauce to be a nice side.
Staff member C did a check back as I was finishing my meal and I told her it was only ok but not great.
When the bill came I was surprised to see an extra £2 added to my hot dog for chilli I did not order and a discretionary 10% service charge added. When I explained my surprise, staff member C did offer to remove the £2 chilli charge but did not offer to remove the service charge. A great place would have presented both removals when bringing over the bill.
Yes I could have asked for them both to be removed, but instead I politely asked her to feed this experience back as learning.
Summary...expectation needs to be managed, this is not the great American dining experience but is kinda billed as such. It's ok. My experience was not great...staff member A got it wrong, member B delivered what he was told to deliver and member C did a late check back just before billing. Confusing staffing, inattentive in terms of understanding the order at ordering and doing timely check backs.
Maybe everyone had their minds on the football?

Not worth the journey, avoid
They advertise breakfast until 12 — it isn’t. Instead, we were given a baffling, over‑engineered “service plan” that made no sense. The whole setup felt unnecessarily complicated and frankly pretty idiotic.

The motel was fine. Beds comfortable, well stocked rooms, quiet even on the main A420. Reception were helpful and knew their stuff. The diner not so great for us. Suited more to younger people/families. I understand it's based on a US diner but it could have benefited from a more UK perspective.
