Relaxing dining
We went to the city hotel for a Sunday dinner and we got to sit looking out for a lovely view. Children's menu choices are very good and very good value we all enjoyed our starters, main courses and dessert. We found it very relaxing and the staff was very kind. Would definitely go again. Thank people for forgetting about it when going out on a Sunday for dinner, but if you're looking for a quiet relaxing place this would be a good place to meet up with friends and family or just to get away and enjoy your dinner from the hustle. A three course for adults to work out around 27 pounds including drinks. Children work out if you have the three course 14 pound

Wait until the renovation is complete
Average at best during its renovation, it's definitely not the place to be during a heat wave. The room had one window that barely opened, but thankfully the hotel did have a fan we could borrow -- a necessity without AC. The furniture and fixtures definitely need updating as they are scratched and literally coming apart at the edges. The hotel offers onsite parking, plus there are two public lots nearby (all paid). The location is great, but the negatives during our stay outweighed any positives.

Outstanding staff and exceptional service
Stayed at the city hotel derry for 1 night and had a fabulous time everything was perfect. Hotel is a great location for exploring the city. We had a family meal in the resturant on the Saturday night we had a lovely table overlooking the foyle and the food was absolutely delicious every dish ordered exceeded our expections. A special thank you to James Kelly and Carla Martin who made our night very enjoyable. They were both incredibly friendly, attentive and professional making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Their excellent customer service really stood out and made us feel genuinely welcome. We will all definitely return because of the hard working, friendly staff at the city hotel.

Not Good - really not good
Not great - lets be honest, as I wish the Hotel was before booking, this was maybe a 4-Star hotel in 1990 and I really don't think there is much scope for exaggeration.
Pros
- Staff are warming and nice to deal with
- Beds are relatively comfortable
- Room size is pretty standard
Cons
- No air conditioning
- Noise through a closed window (6th floor) is shocking. Fan going right outside the room. Maybe the rooms at the front of the building are quieter, but not at the rear.
- No fridge
- TV is from the year 2000 and 15" time capsule
- There is a serious lack of plugs, 1 double socket on the other side of the room
- The bathroom is grubby, mould around the bath, and tiles, bath is chipped and is seriously out-dated
- The room is outdated, marks, chips and floor stains, and the décor is seriously bad
- Iron board is a built in wooden thing, again just so outdated
- Changing rooms at the pool is filthy and smell
- The odour around the building is a little musty, especially the corridors
Its all rather dark and dingy. I fully appreciate the hotel is going for refurbishment but its not OK to label as a 4-Star Hotel and be in this condition. The reception area, even for a temporary situation is rather depressing.
Close and do a proper refurb and don't con your guests.
P:S it was £290 for a 2-night mid-week (Mon-Wed) stay booked in advance. On the day it was £190 for the same stay. That's not the hotels fault, that's business but the £190 is more aligned for what you will receive at this hotel. I would recommend the Holiday Inn or the Walled City Hotel close by for a similar location, price and far better experience. I would normally complain if it was this poor, but I really don't see how any room move would make the situation any better with the exception of the noise perhaps. Tired, disappointed and just going to take the hit and learn from it.

Very poor hotel.
AVOID!
Currently under renovation (which they tell you after you’ve booked). Place is a shambles! Overall appearance is old, dirty and dated! Our bathroom was full of mould.(Room 620). Breakfast was cold and you have to get your own tea and coffee. Entertainment was suited to pensioners. Nowhere near the standard of other 4 star hotels.
