A very pleasant and enjoyable over night stay

A friend read reviews after booking. Needless to say we travelled there with some apprehension. However from the spring 2025 there must have been serious refurbishment. We had a cabin on the opposite side of the road from the kitchen close to the bathroom. Everything was well maintained and very clean, the matress was comfortable, the kitchen was clean and well stocked with utensils, overall an excellent experience. We were there late August 2025

When we arrived at the site at 4pm there was no indication were the cottage was located.I knocked on a random cottage and spoke to the owners girlfriend who took us to a small shack,which had a double bed,Only one cooking pan and only enough cutlery for one person occupancy The stairs up to the sleeping area were narrow and too steep for my wifes access.the access to the property was a high step-up into the shack.THIS IS NOT WHAT WE HAD PAID FOR!!. We could not stay in this property and left to find alternative accommidation elsewhere..We returned to the site on Tuesday 25/08/26 too return the key to the shack and were met by the property owner who explained that his girlfriend had taken us to the wrong property ALL CORRESPONDANCE FROM THE OWNER AND YOURSELF ARRIVED AFTER WE HAD ALREADY LEFT THE SITE..I would therefore like to be re-embursed as we never stayed at he said site.I look forward to hearing from you in the near future

The listing was further very deceptive , stating laundry facilities that did not exist and wifi that likewise did not exist . The host is not present on the property at all , there is no reception even for the hostel present on the property , and communication was terrible , including gaining access to our prepaid cottage that was in a state of disrepair and had moldy food in the cupboards .

The place could have been beautiful but unfortunately it was clear that it had not had a deep clean in some time. There was no washing machine as advertised, the garden furniture was broken, the back door ramp railings were wobbly, a dining chair was ready to collapse. The kitchen was greasy and dirty and the pots in the cupboard were dirty. The baking trays were rusty and coated in grease so we were unable to cook a meal. The sofa arm was ripped. The bedding was so old it was bobbly. The dining table was sticky. There were dead flys on the living room window sill. The jacuzzi did not work. The whole place smelt of damp dog and we have had to open all of the windows to air it. When we opened the fridge the smell was so bad we did not feel comfortable placing our food in there. The main four poster bed was so uncomfortable , we could feel the springs. The tv didn’t receive a signal. This place has so much potential and it wouldn’t take much to make it exceptional. Such a disappointment.

Still no communication from the number on the website. Do not use.

Booked a hobbit house to try and see whether our 18 month old would be up for camping in our tent this summer as a practice run. Arrived and no signage so couldnt find the hobbit pod. A guy drove past us twice we then asked directions (turns out he was the son of the lady who runs the place and he didnt seem to have a clue). He told us to go across the street so we did ...put in the code and it didnt work. We then went back to find the guy who said we had been moved to the hostel (we were not given any warning of this happening and had packed for a camping trip which was not needed had we known). This also meant our plan for how our 18 month old was not going to work as a bed quite a height off the floor had been set up for her where the floor was hard tile and no bumper for the bed to stop her rolling out. If we had known we would have brought a travel cot. We tried calling the number provided as the son said he was unable to comment due to it being his mum who runs it and we should call her. The number seems to send an automated message saying please text me. Which never gets a reply either. Avoid this place espcially if you have a family. Might be cheap but theres a reason why. I used the shared toilets down at the pod when we arrived before we knew we were moving and it was actually disgusting. Didnt look like it had ever been cleaned and I would not be using the showers after looking at them. Luckily the private bathroom we had was much cleaner. My guess is the owner and son are biting off more than they can chew and do not have the time or the get up and go to run all that they are trying to run. Whole place is very run down and not looked after any more. Didnt get directed to the kitchen so dont know if the shared kitchen was there anymore and there was no wifi as stated there is.
