Stayed by chance
We ended up here through our Loganair flight being cancelled to to next day
They accommodated us very well
There were 6 of us who all ate in the bar area
There was 4 staff serving and were all very pleasant and efficient
We got speaking with Morgan who was serving behind the bar and another girl Abbegail who just made out nite for us
We ended up with a cancelled flight to having a fab nite with people we had all just met !
They accommodated us very well

Avoid
Arrived to find a coach doing its best to almost completely block the car park. Once we got to the entrance we had to squeeze by the associated tour group to get to reception. The staff member who checked us in was nice enough.
The reception area despite being crowded was deceptively cruel. Once we made it halfway up the first flight of stairs we were hit with a wall of heat. Stepping into the room felt like stepping into a greenhouse. 2 fans were provided but they did little to cool the room, simple measures like keeping the curtains closed would have helped more. The room itself was fairly small with very little room to walk around the beds. The bathroom was mouldy with no working extractor fan which is against regulations.
We went to the bar for dinner and the food was decent. The service was slow but the staff were apologetic - it was the man who checked us in who served us dinner.
Breakfast was the worst hotel breakfast I have ever experienced. We arrived within the first 30 mins of service to find no staff (could have eaten for free). We found a table which appeared relatively clean. The larger plates at the hot buffet section were so hot that it was impossible to pick them up without burning your hands. One of the toasters was clearly broken and close to setting off the fire alarm. We managed to find a member of staff (from reception) who turned off the fault toaster and removed the hand burning plates. The food selection was poor, there were no eggs available and it took 15-20 minutes for these to be replenished. The selection of sliced fruit which they claim to offer was non-existent. There was no extra cutlery available and within 10 minutes of our arrival the mugs and glasses had ran out. It was almost impossible to find a member of staff.
We had planned to use the leisure facilities but after the various health and safety hazards we witnessed at breakfast we decided it was safer just to leave.
There are clearly significant staffing issues which don’t appear to be getting addressed by management and the hotel is worn and well in need of a refurbishment. Certainly nowhere near the standard you’d expect at Leonardo or for the price you pay.

Not recommended
Hotel room and bathroom unclean. At the sink, a rubber stopper that was slimy and rotten underneath. Verdigris behind the sink faucet. I didn't even really look at the shower, just kept my eyes up and went through quickly. Location is extremely unfavorable for people sensitive to noise. In addition to the noise from the expressway and the trains, a fan roared under our window, which could be heard clearly even with the window closed. This was turned off at 11 p.m., but turned back on early in the morning. Breakfast was okay. Sufficient parking spaces directly in front of the hotel. I do not recommend this hotel. It was by far the worst on our road trip. We were glad when we had left it behind us.

Great location for accessing from A9, but also for walking into town. Pool a bit small but very clean. Very good breakfast.

Very nice hotel that fully met our expectations. It is indeed rather old but well maintained. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and bathroom was clean with good shower and plenty of hot water. Excellent value for the price we paid.
