Shhh: My secret hideaway…

[Note: This host owns 3 apartments very close to each other in Kamenita (= Stone Street in Croatian) and her base is at Kamenita 81. The following Review is of my stay at Kamenita 93, which my host tells me is about 5 metres away! (Probably through the next wall!)
Visiting at the end of May the weather was perfect, and the crowds not too dense. But in any case I was hidden in a nearly-secret apartment very near the centre of Split where all my neighbours were local Croats. The apartment was ridiculously well-supplied with everything you could need to live there: all the domestic materials for cleaning and living that you could want - maybe more than I have at home. And an abundance of socket-outlets so that there is plenty of power for whatever you have brought with you. Free Wi-Fi of course.
For bread there was a superb bakery on the next corner which your host will point out to you, and a 20 minutes walk to the yacht harbour brings you to a restaurant where they will offer you a selection of fish caught that day; or go a little further and you will come to the host’s favourite restaurant, with a complete range of superior dishes.
The host will give you her mobile phone number, on which she is available 24/7. While I was in the apartment we had only one minor crisis, when a large water-main in the next road burst during the night. By midday the next day the local authority had carried out an enormous of work which restored the water supply to the area.
The accommodation is on two levels, with the bedroom and shower room/WC up a precipitous flight of stairs constructed out of what in the UK are called Paddle Steps: not unlike a ladder! Most people will master these safely in a day, but if you are infirm you may want to ask the host to send you details/a photo before taking the apartment.
I felt completely at home in the apartment, and plan to visit again at the same time next year.
