Via Mare rooms in Split are terrible
Location was awful. It looked like the cheaper part of town. Finding the place was near impossible. When we did manage to get inside the sea room we booked it smelled of vomit and the sea view was obstructed by an ugly metal stairway. The room was tiny. We had booked 2 of these rooms and were given an upgrade on 1. I believe this was to shut us up. When we tried to complain to booking.com they mentioned that the property had given us an upgrade so no refund.
The ads for this property are misleading if not fraudulent. DO NOT STAY HERE.
We stayed in the Old Town instead and it was so much better…and cheaper. We will fight for a refund.

Absolutely awful experience — do not be fooled by the word “Luxury” in the name.
Terrible experience — nothing “luxury” about this place.
The room was in very poor condition and clearly not properly maintained. There was mould on the walls, exposed electrical wires, broken lights and fixtures, damaged walls, filthy walls and furniture, and overall very poor hygiene.
The side of the bed was visibly stained, and the pull-out couch had a badly bent mattress that was extremely uncomfortable. The furniture and fixtures looked worn, damaged and neglected.
For accommodation advertised as “Luxury Rooms,” the standard was shockingly low. The room felt dirty, unsafe and completely overpriced for what was provided.
Would absolutely not recommend staying here.

Scam to flee
Accommodation not consistent with photos.
Upon arrival we found that the walls were moldy and there was a strong smell of moisture.
The room was unhealthy (1st room on the right upon entering).
Poor soundproofing.
When we contacted the host (as soon as our check in) he did not want to know anything.
This Hosting is a total scam.

Not as Advertised – Very Disappointing Experience
My friend booked two rooms at this property, which is advertised as a four-star hotel. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below that standard.
The property was difficult to find, taking us almost an hour to locate, and there was no reception or staff available to assist on arrival.
One of the rooms was uninhabitable. It had a strong vomit smell, visible mould, damaged walls around the skirting boards, and exposed electrical wires hanging from the ceiling, creating a serious safety concern.
Across both rooms, the minibars were warm and not fully stocked as advertised. There was no hot water, the shower heads were faulty and sprayed water in all directions, and the jacuzzis were leaking.
The advertised sea view was also misleading, as it was largely obstructed by metal stairs.
Due to the condition of the accommodation, we refused to stay and were forced to find alternative accommodation at short notice, causing considerable inconvenience and additional expense. We are still awaiting a response from Booking.com regarding our refund request.
Overall, this property was not as advertised and is nowhere near the standard expected of a four-star hotel.

Do Not Book This Hotel!!
We strongly recommend not booking Hotel Via Mare in Split. Although this property is advertised as a 4-star hotel, our experience was very far from what we would expect from a property of this standard. The photos and description are also, in our opinion, misleading.
We booked two rooms with sea views. Unfortunately, one of the rooms had mould and peeling paint on the walls. There were loose wires hanging from the light fittings, and the bathroom had a strong sewage smell. After running the taps, we also discovered that there was no hot water.
The property also advertises a minibar, but there was no minibar in our room. There was a small refrigerator, but it did not appear to be cooling properly.
Another major concern was the lack of a reception. There was nobody on site to speak to, and all communication was conducted via WhatsApp with an unnamed person. When we raised our concerns and explained that the accommodation was nowhere near the standard we expected from a 4-star property, we were refused a refund.
Overall, we feel the property is poorly maintained and does not match the standard or description presented on booking websites. We were extremely disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this property to other travellers.
