Good hotel in the middle of Kuusamo

I stayed in for a work trip. My room was compact, but nice. Check-in was contactless as I arrived pretty late. Really good breakfast and nice service! In the morning I got a glimpse to some other rooms and also bigger ones were available. But I guess I had the smallest when I booked just during the same day. Free parking was in the back yard and a good supermarket next door. I will certainly come again, when I have next work trip to Kuusamo.

Only suitable for single travellers stopping for a few nights.

Room was ridiculously cramped. The beds were only 2 feet wide! Why stuff a tiny room with table, tv, two chairs, tea making equipment? There is no air conditioning. Local teenagers riding motorbikes very noisy.
Breakfast good, central position, car parking behind hotel.
Wouldn't stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the room felt too cramped and that the noise outside disturbed your stay. Our rooms come in different sizes, but even the smallest rooms have the same amenities as the larger ones: a private or shared bathroom (according to your choice), water point, fridge, kettle, bed linen and towels, so that your stay is as comfortable as possible regardless of room size.
We fully understand that everyone has their own preference when it comes to space, and we are working on improving our room descriptions so that the size and equipment are as clear as possible already at the time of booking. We also have rooms facing both the street and the inner courtyard, and for light sleepers we recommend requesting a courtyard-side room when making a reservation.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast, central location and the car parking behind the hotel. We take your comments about the room size, furnishings, cooling options and outside noise seriously as part of the ongoing development of our hotel.

Lovely, comfortable, family run hotel.

This is a family run hotel and, as such, has personal service. The woman who runs it is most pleasant and helpful. We had a large room with four comfortable beds overlooking the back. It was so quiet. We never heard any of the other guests. Breakfast is a wide range of choices of cereals and breads, porridge, meats, cheeses, salad, eggs, yogurt and sweets. A filling way to start the day outdoors. There is free parking in back. There is no wi-fi, but we were able to use our phones as hotspots to solve that problem. You can’t beat the price for the homey service one finds here, versus a standard hotel.

Good accommodation option in Kuusamo

Hotelli Kuusanka is situated in central Kuusamo and whilst the location is nothing special it does offer accommodation in large, clean, comfortable and functional rooms. I received a very friendly welcome at reception.
The price seemed relatively expensive for the quality of accommodation and facilities but I guess I am comparing with UK prices rather than average Finland prices. The price, however, is cheaper than other Kuusamo accommodation options.
The only issue that I had was that there was no lift and climbing the stairs with heavy luggage was somewhat of a challenge.
However, I would probably stay at Hotelli Kuusanka again should I re-visit the Kuusamo area.

Regarding the price, hotel accommodation in Finland is indeed often higher than in many parts of the UK, but within Kuusamo we aim to offer good value in relation to our central location and included services, and it is nice to hear you found us more affordable than many other local options. We also appreciate your comment about the lack of a lift – the building is older and does not have elevator access, and we understand that carrying heavy luggage up the stairs can be challenging. Whenever possible, our staff is happy to assist guests with their luggage and to take this into account when assigning rooms.
It means a lot to us that, despite these points, you would consider staying with us again on a future visit to the Kuusamo area.

Not much good to say

This place might be cheap, but it is nothing special. Breakfast was ok for a B&B. Shower was disappointing. It had an irritating noice and had to dry shower floor with paper. There's no convenient place for charging cell phone at night. There was too cold in the evening and too moist and warm in the morning after showering. Whole place is old and weary. The owners were very friendly, but i wont go back.

Since your visit, the hotel has gone through a major update. All guest rooms and common areas have been refurbished and redecorated, and we have expanded and improved the guest facilities to make the building feel fresher and more comfortable. The breakfast and the breakfast room have also been renewed, with a clearer, more modern concept and improved selection. We have paid attention to room functionality as well, including lighting and power outlets, to make everyday things like charging devices easier and more convenient.
Your comments about the shower, temperature and general worn condition were important signals for us and have been part of the reason for these changes. We are also pleased to hear that you found the owners very friendly, even though the overall experience fell short for you.
