Nice hotel in the centre of Florence
I stayed at Bavaria a few years ago and fell in love with its location, the heart of Florence, all within walking distance. Now the hotel has been visibly transformed - the rooms have been renovated, made more comfortable and modern - it feels like a soul has been invested in the renovations. That warm, almost homely atmosphere didn't go away. The room has a kettle, all the necessary facilities. Free coffee is also available for breakfast.
Special thanks to the hotel staff - attentive, sincere, sympathetic. Help with any question, very welcome.
The hotel's location is chic: The Duomo is a stone's throw away, but the room is quiet.

Good location but...
THE GOOD
For the centre of Florence, prices are reasonable. Brilliant location right in the old centre of Florence. Tastefully decorated room and good temperature control. Comfortable bed with choice of pillows. Room cleaning was as required and very good. There is a dining room with a communal fridge, and corridor seating areas.
The coffee machine is available up to 11 am and there is a kettle, tea and coffee in the room.
THE BAD
The instructions for accessing the hotel are really confusing, the street door is almost never open and you have to either wait for someone coming out to open it or phone the hotel to get it opened, the last thing you need after a long journey. After this door are 4 flights of 66 steep stairs, if you have large, heavy luggage you will struggle. There are no ensuite bathrooms but the 2 bathrooms located near the rooms are adequate and we never had a problem accessing one. Could do with a warning about the dangerously hot water!
THE UGLY
Whilst there is very little street noise, the internal walls have the acoustics of a sheet of uncooked lasagne. You can hear conversations and noises through the walls and on one day we were awakened by the alarm clock in the next room. The wooden ceiling also transmits footsteps, chair scraping and other noises from rooms above. There are often nightly pecking and scratching sounds probably from pigeons. Sometimes the dining area and communal areas reek of tobacco smoke, probably coming from the office area behind reception. The FIRE advice includes not using the lift [there isn't one] and pressing the nearest fire alarm
[ None visible ], we could also only see 1 fire extinguisher in the whole hotel and there is no sprinkler system fitted. I could only see 1 smoke detector in the whole hotel.

Stay away from this hotel.There are no toilet in your room, just a shower without light and no Airconditioner
We booked this hotel for five nights, but left next morning. There is no air conditioner in the room, there is no toilet in a room, and you have a shower, but no lights . There is only one toilet on the floor for 10 rooms .

Beautiful hotel, excellent location
This hotel is so nice. Rooms are so charming with Italian style decor.
I would definitely stay again.
So cental and within 3 mins walk from Duomo.
The streets are narrow so sound is amplified and the windows are single glaze so without doubt bring earplugs, we bought some and we slept much better.
Also there's 70 steps upto the level of the rooms, there's no lift.

This was our second stay at the same hotel after a long time. We chose it again because of its central location and being close to the central train station (about a 15 min walk). The Duomo is a few minutes away. The reception was very welcoming and let us keep our luggages as our room was being prepared because we arrived early. The room we got was spacious (family room) with an en-suite shower. The toilet was a shared one. All in all it was clean and well-maintained. The building is 500 years old and it is a very different experience overall to stay in it.
The only downside I could say is the noise from the street during night time, I wasn’t able to sleep well because of it. The street seemed quiet so maybe there is a bar/pub nearby. Thanks to Leonardo and the staff who keep this place running.
