Lovely stay in a convenient, quiet hotel in central Nairobi

We had 3 nights at the fabulous Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi just before we headed off on safari. It was a great base to explore from in terms of its location and it was topped off by having wonderful staff (especially the ladies on reception) and being in a quiet location. The rooms were cosy and comfortable with a high standard of linen and cleanliness. It felt safe and well-maintained - plus points for great showers. Sadly the weather was poor when we were there so we couldn't make use of the small pool, but it looked inviting. Breakfast was a standout with lots of choices and delicious food. We ate in the bar one evening and everyone enjoyed their meals and the prices were reasonable. Very happy to have stayed here and would recommend.
For the hotel's suggestion - hand towels could do with being one size bigger so ladies can use them to wrap washed hair in (they are too small) and the pillows were a little too plump for both my husband and I so we got slightly sore necks. Also, please consider spraying for mosquitoes at the turn-down service. We were both badly bitten on the first night, but after asking for the room to be sprayed, faced no other issues. These are very minor things and overall, it was a 5* stay. Thank you.

I have traveled to eighty countries over the course of my adult life, and the staff at the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel - top to bottom - is the most exceptional group I have ever encountered. They are competent, responsive and above all friendly. Every single member of the staff greeted us when we encountered them, and they accommodated all of our requests.

Best bar in Nairobi!

Cincin Bar is an awesome hotel bar. Gloria is an excellent bartender mixing beautiful drinks. Samuel made the experience great. Thank you!!!

The Norfolk is great, my only complaint in the astronomical cost of the Breakfast which is crazy even for a first class hotel

What a team!

Everyone at reception was incredibly friendly and professional. Joseph made our stay unforgettable by arranging an upgrade, decorating our room and organising a surprise for us at the restaurant during our stay. All this was to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. No other hotel in Nairobi has a team like this, and I’ve stayed at almost all of them.
