Great Location, Great Staff, Terrific!

My enjoyable stay in Vilnius was made better by staying at the Shakespeare Boutique Hotel. Its location was great and the staff was very helpful in answering questions and making sure my stay was special. Special mention goes to Vitas at reception and to Benas at breakfast who was very friendly. The place was very cute as all the rooms are named after famous Shakespeare related names or famous writers. The breakfast buffet was terrific. In all, I couldn't have had a more pleasant stay. I will certainly recommend the hotel for any friends heading to Vilnius!

A Disappointment

We were very disappointed in the Shakespeare Hotel. It needs a facelift for sure and the last night a wedding went well into the early morning hours and disrupted our friend’s sleep . The wedding reception was held in the room right above hers. The receptionist had no idea how long the wedding would go. In other hotels we’ve stayed in during our travels if there was a wedding or other large event during our stay we would be notified in advance and given an option to cancel. It seemed like guests’ comfort was secondary to the wedding event. There is no large area nor cozy place to buy wine and sit. No reception area. We felt the hotel was way over priced for what it offered. We would not recommend this hotel.

My husband and I are vey frequent travelers all over the world so we have experienced a large sampling of hotels. This is only the third negative review we’ve written in over 20+ years. We were very disappointed in our stay at The Shakespeare Hotel. We were first given a room that looked out into the street and very close to the road looking into a driveway. We like to sleep with our windows open and with the noise and passers by it would have been both unsafe and noisy. We were moved to another but smaller room on the 2nd floor, a degrade, but at least we could open the windows. There is no elevator and lots of steps to the 2nd floor. Also, no place where you could buy a glass of wine in the hotel and sit in a cozy area. However the worst was the single room our friend was given (James Joyce) which should not have cost more than 25 euros but she paid over 100 euros. It looked out on the parking lot and there was hardly enough room to move around. The tv obstructed her window view. The last night of our 3 night stay there was a wedding in the room right above our friend’s room. We asked how long the wedding would go. The receptionist did not know. Well, it went long enough into the night that our friend lost 3/4s of a nights sleep. In other reputable hotels that have had weddings they have notified us in advance of the event and given us the opportunity to cancel our hotel, understanding that noise from a wedding might interrupt our sleep. We do not recommend this hotel.

Charming hotel

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel, which is extremely well located in Vilnius. This establishment is full of charm, quiet, and comfortable.
Our room on an upper floor was spacious and very clean. Breakfasts take place in a very pretty lounge. They are hearty, and the staff present was very professional (discreet and attentive).
We fell in love with Vilnius, and the Shakespeare Hotel contributed strongly to that.

We plan to stay at Shakespeare when we come next year. Fabulous rooms and a staff that was very very friendly and helpful. Closest to old town so you can walk everywhere.
