Nice quiet getaway

We had a lovely few days in Emsland. At breakfast we had everything we need. The young lady at breakfast was very friendly and gave us great excursion destinations. We especially liked the Bourtange fortress.

Not recommended

The rooms, like the entire hotel, are getting old. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The key code only works after multiple entries. The fact that the room cleaning is only done on request, I now find not tragic with two nights. But you should consider a stay of several days. Compared to the room rate of 150€ the breakfast buffet was manageable and not appropriate. Canned fruit instead of fresh fruit. Mini cereal bowls, so you had to go multiple times, no milk selection and much more..
The check-out was already at 10am!! A short extension of one hour requested in advance was not possible. Only after several reports I was noticed at the reception for check-out. The check-out was delayed because apparently no system had booted up. As I said, a short extension to check out was not possible, but it is perfectly fine or self-evident that the guest waits patiently until the staff has time to check out and the systems are up. All in all, the management of the hotel seemed just as chaotic as it looked behind the reception.

Terrible.

Terrible! Horrible!
Our room was on the third floor without elevator, all 90s, old, in need of renovation. Everything is tailored to make it convenient for the hotel, not the guests. If the key code works then you will be excluded at 10 am on the day of departure, although check out is at 11:00. Cleaning the rooms is only if you ask for it before 10:00 in the morning personally, and so on.
We ended up feeling so uncomfortable that we left a day early (although we had already paid).

Nice hotel!

Stayed here recently while in the area for business. It had been quite a while since I had been in Hotel Borchers but service and hotel itself were still the same. Good service, good rooms and good breakfast. Solid area when you are in the area!

A pleasant place

Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was very good. The beds are a bit saggy ,the decor could be updated,and the corridor light sensor didnt work.But the shower is great, strong pressure and hot!! A very pleasant stay. It is close to shops and easy access to main roads.
