Awesome stay in Thamel, Kathmandu!!

I really want to make a shout-out to this awesome guesthouse in Kathmandu!
Lhasa Guest House is located in the middle of Thamel district in Kathmandu, next to the Chikosa Café. On the first glance it's a bit difficult to spot since you can't see the signboard so well, but the location really couldn't be better.
It's a rather ageing, but really well-maintained guesthouse managed by a SUPER NICE Tibetan family which takes care of everything.
I stayed there about one week with a friend after we returned from a long trek in Nepal, and it was a god-send stay!
Baburam, a member of the family who largely manages the reception and the guesthouse, is a super nice fellow who will help you with everything you need. He speaks fairly well English and can help you with leaving your luggage at the hotel, booking a taxi, borrowing his phone for calls and much more.
He and the rest of the family really outdid themselves and deserved a good tip from us!
What's more, the rooms are a bit on the ageing side, but they have recently been renovated and have everything you need - WiFi, hot showers, clean beds, towels and all.
The guesthouse also has a small rooftop restaurant where you can chill out on the chairs, store food in the fridge or ask for food.
For us, this guesthouse really made a huge part of our Kathmandu experience - we'll gladly come back when we do our next Nepal trip here!

Excellent small place good value & location

I've stayed here maybe 4 times over 20 years sometimes for a month or more. In Jyatha neighborhood, not quite so busy as Thamel but short walk to everywhere. Big attraction is Chikusa coffee shop next door!!!
LGH is immaculately kept, beautiful inlaid terrazzo floors mopped daily or more.

4 night stay - Excellent!

The staff were fantastic and provided myself and my five friends with different options for our rooms. When we went out, they did not mind letting us in after they had locked up. The rooms were clean, as well as the bathrooms.
We were staying at Lhasa GH during the earthquake. They left the hotel unlocked so we could get our bags after the hotel had been vacated. Great hotel and I hope that everything is going well for them. Namaste.

The Lhasa - A Great Review 0f Kathmandu

I was in awe of Kathmandu and the hustle-bustle of the narrow 'Touristy' streets of Thamel. But at the Lhasa Guesthouse, I could relax in the comfort of the friendly atmosphere and the lovely staff. My friend had been staying here for 3 months already, so it was great to be introduced to the people she had emailed me about. There's a great little cafe/restaurant attached to the hotel that sells the most amazing Nepali masala tea - I couldn't get enough of it! They do great food here too - whether you want a snack or a 3-course meal.
With the crazy atmosphere of the streets of Thamel right on the doorstep, this was the ideal place to stay, to shop for trinkets, to get to the Hindu temples and Buddhist stupas. I loved staying here. For me, the Lhasa scores ten out of ten.

We loved Lhasa Guest House!

We were in Kathmandu preparing for our Manaslu circuit trek. There were four of us, all twenty something travelers and we loved the Lhasa Guest House. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were very clean. We had hot showers and great water pressure. The beds were comfortable. But really, the great thing about the Lhasa Guest House is it feels like home. It's a nice central location, and it's easy to grab a coffee and breakfast at the coffee shop right next store.
When we had another layover through Kathmandu a few weeks later, we rented a room at Lhasa just for the day because we enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend.
