Perfect for budget travelers.

I paid around $80 AUD for a twin. Spacious and modern, everything from checking in to a peaceful night was spot on. Came with a kitchenette and washing machine, neither of which I used.
Potential negatives: it is 30 walk from the main train station, but easier than working out public transport or paying presumably a lot for a taxi.
Neighborhood is mostly immigrants and lots of kebab shops. Seemed safe enough but not representative of typical Norway either
For an expensive country (I saw $60 burgers at an airport cafe) this place is a bargain

Terrible!

Terrible! Stay away! Worst place ever.
That this place has 3 stars must be the world's biggest bluff (hello tripadvisor). Dirty. Bad smell. No real front desk. Stay away! Stay away! Stay away! It will ruin your holiday.

With a little attention to detail this could be much better

My understanding, and that of a couple who shared the apartment with me was that we would each have a private room in a hostel. This isn't a hostel at all, the budget option is actually an apartment share which we were only informed of when we arrived.
Firstly, I will say the bed was really confortable with nice linen and the space for my possessions in my room was good, a nice large mirror too.
The kitchen was ill-equiped, the door on the fridge only sealed if I placed a chair against it, and the utensils and knives and forks etc were not adequate if the place was full. Could have done with being re-decorated as rather tatty. The bedrooms have windows into the main living areas, but not to the outside, so fresh air was limited, and with flimsy curtains over those bedroom windows there was less privacy than was optimum, particularly when sharing with strangers. The doors to our rooms were extremely squeaky.
Three bedrooms share the kitchen/living area and bathroom, so up to six people which should be manageable but IT IS NOT A HOSTEL. There was no information at all concerning local amenities, and no cloths etc for keeping the communal area clean. I requested and received dish soap from reception and was given a towel instead of a cloth to keep the kitchen clean. No hand soap was provided as the dispensers in the kitchen and bathroom were empty, something that should never happen at the present time. Whether you share or rent self-contained accommodation for your own party greater attention to detail would greatly improve things.

If you are looking for a very DIRTY place, this is your choice!

Great rip of. Do not go there!
Here is our horror story, (spoiler alert, the best part is the conversation with the head of frontdesk, last 2 paragraphs)
We checked in and got the keys of apartment 150. After steping in, we noticed it smells as if it was closed for sime time. Shortly after my wife spots a huge spider in the corridor. It is ok, these things can happen... After walking into the bathroom two more spiders enjoying life in the shower's ceiling. 3 in one room in different places it's an issue.
I go to the frontdesk and after sharing the experience they say they can't move us as it's fullybooked and that the spiders must have gotten in because a host left the window open. Up to you to have an opinion on that but how unlikely is that 3 spiders decide to break in at the same time and how unlikely it is that the 3 of them happen to be hanging out nearby the window when it's -5°C in 41 F in Oslo.
Anyway, we go to the new apartment 128, looking slightly bigger.
There are 3 individual beds in the room, i move them to put together (we travel with a 2 year old) and i found a half eaten cookie.
After checking more carefully we realize that the floor nearby the kitchen is also full of old bread crumbs/dust and etc, the small table by the window is also covered in dust. Clear cleanning issues.
I run into houskeeping stuff when I am on the way to the frontdesk to report this and she asks if there is any problem. I explain and she comes in to clean.
Shortly after my wife goes to the bathroom and finds out that the seat is filthy, as there is some urgency decided to clean it up with baby wipes in order to make it usable.
The last surpise in the room was waiting to be unveiled under the bed i did not move where I found nail parts...
With all this, I walk to the frontdesk and share this with the recepcionist. The lady there is horrified by the stories and points me to the manager.
I explain all the above and his reaction is surreal. Not only he is not apologetic nor empathic at all for such a horrible guest experience, but instead justifies the dirtyness of the place saying things like, "apartments are always like that", "this can happen because guests in apartments stay for longer periodes", "details that the cleaning stuff my have overlooked but that people can report", "That if there are small issues he can send housekeeping and that is it" "that they already went the extramile by changing our room in the first place, when they never do for a small spider (almost said in a sarcastic way), "that these are all small things".
He says that the apartments are managed by another company (the property combines hotel and apartments) and fails to point me at some person in the apartments management team!
After a long back and forth about all that and confronting him with the fact that he is trying to normalize and defends dirtyness and poor service, I told him that the price I am paying does not reflect the quality of the service and that I am expecting a discount. He says the only 2 solutions are, 1) either send someone to clean again and forget the whole story as if nothing happened or 2) I am welcome to leave the place.

Basic but good value for money

Not the worst place I’ve ever stayed.
Basic rooms that were clean with comfy beds. Kitchen was VERY basic and could do with extra items such as a toaster.
Location wise it’s slightly out of the way. We walked from Oslo Central station which took over half an hour and the neighbourhood seemed slightly undesirable. However we soon realised that across the road is the metro station and a nice little area with shops bars and restaurants.
All in all I was pleased for the money we paid and would recommend to those on a budget in this incredibly expensive city.
