Lovely Stay!
Truly a lovely experience . Beds were extremely comfortable and the satff at the front desk was extremely helpful and nice. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful hotel, super central and with lovely staff
Great hotel - the rooms are incredibly comfortable and smart, and there’s a nice restaurant with a super breakfast buffet and good menu for other times of day. The staff were wonderful and even recommended places to eat out. The hotel is a 10/15 minute walk from the Guggenheim, or about 15/20 minutes to the central shopping/restaurant/bar areas. Only a couple of minor comments - the “rooftop pool” is a paddling pool (honestly about 70cm deep and about the size of a large kids’ paddling pool), so that was disappointing as it was one of the main reasons we booked. And the background music in the restaurant is dreadful, e.g. “Eye of the Tiger” re-imagined by a dreamy woman who sounds like she’s having a lovely bubble bath, not engaging in a fight! But altogether a really lovely hotel, highly recommended.

The hotel was very central with bilbao city centre just outside the door. It was very fresh, clean rooms and super helpful staff. Breakfast was good with a big assortment from bread, yoghurt to customized omelett.

Bilbao in combination with the Hotel Catalonia is always worth a trip!
We stayed at the Hotel Catalonia Bilbao for the third time – and it was a great stay once again. What we like every time is the nice and helpful staff – in all areas. Wishes and requests are implemented as quickly as possible. Whether at the reception, in the breakfast room, at the bar, or in housekeeping: You simply feel welcome here. This atmosphere makes the hotel a place for us that we always like to return to. The location for a city trip could hardly be better.
Our room, we had the premium room again, was modern and well-equipped with many amenities. Thank you very much for the thoughtful gesture (small gift) in our room. We slept very well. The breakfast at the hotel is phenomenal! It is varied, fresh, and offers everything one could wish for a good start to the day! The bar is cozy and modernly furnished; ideal for a relaxed end to the day.
Especially practical for us is the proximity to the airport bus stop, which is located just a few steps from the hotel. With line 3247, you can get to and from the airport every fifteen minutes. Thus, the trip begins and ends pleasantly and uncomplicatedly for us.
The location is perfect for experiencing Bilbao. We especially love, among other things, the Plaza Nueva in the Casco Viejo – a lively, beautiful square full of pintxo bars and restaurants that show the entire variety of Basque cuisine. During our visit, the square was being renovated and the middle area was closed off, but the atmosphere all around was, as always, unique: People, voices, scents, small culinary works of art on every counter.
The proximity to the famous Guggenheim Museum is also a big plus and a highlight that we enjoy anew with every visit. The museum is easily reachable on foot from the hotel. When we are in the mood for the ocean, we hop on the metro or the bus and are at the Atlantic in a short time. This mix of city, culture, and coast makes Bilbao a very special place for us.
We are already looking forward to our next stay, probably in June 2027. For us, the Catalonia Bilbao remains the perfect address to experience this wonderful city with its pleasant residents.
