Overall, you get what you paid for, and honestly, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated! The room was clean, I didn't spot any bugs, and the staff was pretty nice. We only stayed there for two nights, but the hotel itself was not a disaster. I'd recommend it - the only thing (not pertaining to the hotel) was the area surrounding it. Kind of sketchy, but once you get out to the subway that's near by, no issues. Again, not a bad spot, I've stayed in way worse for more money.

Walls dirty , very noisy in side the hotel couldn’t get a good night sleep neighbors above me making noise late last night had to call front desk to make a complaint, they couldn’t even give me half my money back,

The air conditioner was working and the shower was fine, but those were pretty much the only amenities that we used in our one-night stay. We didn’t mind the room that is a little run-down, it was a good place to sleep safely before our flight. But if there were amenities, we did not find them, nor go looking for them. It helped us to save a few dollars at a location that is a short commute from LaGuardia. We came in late and left early, so we didn’t have much staff interaction.

We all view things differently this is not The Plaza and a cheaper alternative to Manhattan and Big Hotel Prices
PREVIOUS REVIEWS - We took time to read the reviews prior to booking as they are very mixed and the hotel has clearly made improvements over the years.
We were greeted when we arrived early and checked in smoothly and quickly.
CASH DEPOSIT - We were aware of the $100 cash deposit so had this available. This was returned on check out.
ATMOSPHERE -The hotel has a "family run" feel to it and the staff greeted you and were friendly.
ENTRANCE - The lobby and lift were very clean with a vending machine and microwave available. We also were able to leave luggage at our own risk on check out as we had an evening flight.
ROOM - Our room was on the 6th floor and very quiet despite there being roadworks outside. The room was very clean. It was -7 during our stay and the heating did quickly warm us up.
BED - The bed was comfortable and I am sure an extra blanket could be provided if required. The bedding was clean and there was housekeeping daily if required.
DECOR - In places the decor does show signs of age but it is functionable and clean. There were some areas that needed a deeper clean but it was not filthy just some decorating signs and some deeper cleaning around some of the grouting in the bathroom.
BATHROOM - The bathroom had a hair dryer, bath and shower. The water pressure and temperature of the water were good nice and warm. The bathroom however did get chilly at night!!!! Towels were clean and soft.
AMENITIES - Being British we did miss having facilities in the room to make a hot drink as it is standard in the hotels in the UK to have a kettle but I am aware US hotels do not.
Would happily have rented a kettle and mugs if they were available.
LOCATION is great for access to the subway and within walking distance to Roosevelt Island. The area can feel run down and is surrounded by auto repair shops but we felt safe and I ran locally every morning. The subway at 21st Queensbridge can feel intimidating as sometimes there are homeless people begging but the hotel is a quick walk.
SHOPS - there is a fantastic cafe next door and you can order on Grub Hub to collect they have great food and great prices.
I stayed in a chain hotel on the next street which was probably 4 times the cost of this hotel and I had just as nice a stay.
Oh the other thing that would not go a miss is a coat hook somewhere.
I would stay again.

One bed (not firm, old linnens), one bathroom, barely acceptable. stains all over the walls, floor. AC outdated and broken pieces, buttons unreadable (must guess buttons function). door frame was twisted, so you can see inside the room from the hall.
no sits at the lobby, no amenities. in few words, a place to crash if you are not that picky.
I had to leave $100 deposit cash, and ask twice to get it back at my check out.
